This was one of the first locations I found on Campendium when I signed up and I immediately put it on my bucket list! It is super simple to get here as it is just about 6 miles south of I-90 and I'm not sure if the first turn in to the area was better than the second turn in (which was the one I took as I totally missed the first turn), but as long as you go slow, it is no big deal. What was a big deal were the views...OH MY GAWD! Simply sublime and you can hike out onto different areas. I was there Saturday, May 20th and a number of reviewers commented on how windy it was...there was literally NO wind at all all afternoon/night and into the next morning...again, maybe I got lucky, but you could not have asked for better weather. There were at least 20 or so other campers around the rim, but it didn't feel cramped or crowded at all and it was dead silent at night...for a spot that I had such high expectations of, I could not have been happier with everything. If you haven't been here, you have got to check it out...it is really hard to put into words how awesome this boondocking spot is!
Had great cell reception and my T-Mobile hot spot actually had a 5G signal the entire time...could not have asked for a better overnight stay!
Cheers,
Travis

I will say, you should deffinetly go slow down the gravel road to get to the cliffs because mannn are those potholes big! It was also VERY windy at night which actually woke me up at 2am because i was scared my van was gonna somehow blow off the cliff lol. Anyways it was all worth it for the view, would totally stay again!

It rained all night and morning. Was concerned that our van would not make it out. Only have rear wheel drive. Van would spin wheels in reverse. Lucky was able to drive out. Dirt road is pretty compact even with an inch of rain.

Nomad View was one of my first Boondocking experiences, and did not go well at all. Only due to the HEAT! This was last year, in late June. I left Ellsworth AFB famcamp in the morning, and it was just under an hour's drive to Nomad View. So it was still on the cool side when I arrived and set up. By 5pm, it was miserable.. about 101 degrees! Had a generator, but could not run the A/C due to high fuel consumption.
Did not sleep that night, left first thing in the morning and drove to Big Horn National Park with the High Elevations and 68 degree temps.
Nomad view was beautiful and would have been a great experience had the temps been livable! Thus the 5-Star review. Plan on going back soon.

Road is has some pretty deep potholes, just go slow. We watched the weather to make sure we wouldn’t be out during rain. Second day was very windy, which I imagine is the case most of the time. So windy you couldn’t be outside or have the windows open more than a crack. Would definitely come back, just be aware of the weather.

Luckily the road leading to the camping isn’t a long stretch nor a terrible “climb”. This is a perfect spot if you’re a digital nomad and use Starlink Roam as I’m getting an average of 130mbps download and 8mbps upload. Solid spot!

I can't really add anything to the other reviewers. We were at the south end and came in on the south road by the double towers. Good road, a couple of large potholes you have to slow for. First couple of days were beautiful then the winds arrived with a passing cold front. 35 or so steady with gusts over 50. As previously mentioned, lots of room and there is a lot of daily turnover. No trees so great solar production and Starlink reception and speeds were fantastic.

While you're in the area, don't miss Sheep Mountain Table; it is located between the North and South parts of Badlands National Park. The views are amazing.
