Nine Mile Recreation Area

I am rating this campground as a travel through camper. Google directions took us through downtown Spokane. Don’t make that mistake. So we were frazzled when we got here. It’s a bit tricky to find. Once here we realized it is just a parking lot. Sites are on the edge of the day use boat parking lot. We got in fine and set up. The camp hosts came and chatted with us. They were very nice. They informed us that the lower section of the campground has been closed permanently due to repeated flooding so that only leaves the few sites up on the parking lot level as the campground. If you had your own boat or were and avid biker this is a great place. The bike trail that goes to Idaho passes through the campground. I think upon further research there probably is lots to do in the immediate area. Over night it was dead quiet. We enjoyed our dinner at the picnic table and watched the people fishing. The sunset was beautiful. But for us, I don’t think we’ll be back.

This is not a camp ground, but a parking lot you can camp in.

Pull up right to the public park. The parking lot was so full when we got here, could barely maneuver the RV.

If you’re looking for a place with kids screaming and running around you 24/7, this is your spot.

Electricity & water- Sewer dump across the parking Lot.

Would not return.

After a last minute decision to visit Spokane we managed to grab one of the last remaining sites at Nine Mile Recreation Area on a busy August weekend. Situated approx. 30min from downtown Spokane this is a good destination if you don't want to stay in town, yet be close enough if need be.

There are two rows of sites, one on the grass level with the Spokane river approx. 30 meters away and the other is elevated behind the first.

We stayed on the grass which included 30amp and water connections, yet a couple of the sites on the higher elevation enjoyed full hook-ups. A dump station is also available for $5 if required.

The only negatives are that sites are quite close to each other and the park can get busy on weekends. A boat launch is located close by which gets regular use.

With the Spokane River so close by, you not only get to enjoy the outstanding views but can swim, kayak, stand up paddle (available for hire), or even launch your boat if you have one!!
