We were lucky and got a site parallel to the river with beautiful views up and down the river and across to the hillside. We are early in the season (May), so the campground was very quiet. It's an older campground that needs some updating, but the owner is super friendly and it's in a great location for visiting New River Gorge National Park, 25 minutes away on a very scenic, winding road. We only had 2 bars of extended Verizon, so no internet access. Calls and texts were fine. No wifi. I was disappointed in the laundry room as it was dirty and the machines older. They worked fine. Also, if you are a light sleeper, the train across the river causes a medium rumble. If you're looking for laid back time on the water, this is the campground for you.

This is an older campground. The owner/operator lives on site, and is very nice. They are doing what they can with what they have. What they have is a nice property on the river.
Sites are quite close. As mentioned in another review, the sewer hookup for your camp side neighbor is going to be right at your front door most likely (pic added). I normally put my sewer line out upon arrival, but I didn’t want to impose on my neighbor so I just waited until time to dump.
The sites are long and relatively level(only needed minor adjustments). I was able to park my tow vehicle in front of my camper (35’), and still had plenty of room in back for sitting around the fire ring.
A big Pro to these older campgrounds is the laid back atmosphere. People just enjoying their time and being respectful of others. I think most campers would gladly give up some frills for a better atmosphere.
US HWY 60 has moderate traffic, and the highway side sites are pretty much right on the roadway.
We were in the area for the national parks nearby, so this site was for sleeping and eating. That’s probably the best use for this campground (for people who are getting their entertainment elsewhere, and just need a decent place to relax and sleep).
Overall, this campground is not a destination, but is what you need.

It’s right off the main road, no one should have any trouble getting back there and in their spot. The have a couple spots for big rigs, 5th wheels. $34 for full hook up isn’t bad.
I didn’t but there has to be some good fishin to be had there. Lots of current and they have some pictures posted of some pretty nice catches, though I didn’t pay to much attention to the dates of those pictures.
The office/store doesn’t have much. I can’t comment on the facilities. They are locked with a key pad and only available to campers without their own restroom, some covid policy stuff.
I just spent the night here passing though on my way home. I did make a reservation but there were many spots open. I believe a reservation is required but don’t quote me on that.
The sites are gravel, or at least the patio area is. It was raining off and on and was pretty muddy in spots. My camper isn’t very big so I put my passenger side wheels just on the edge of the gravel patio so my entry steps wouldn’t be in the mud and I was nearly level, side to side was good, only needed a small adjustment front to rear.
It’s down in a valley with mountains on either side. There is a train on the other side of the river. There were some geese and ducks congregating in the water near my camper at night, was pretty cool to see so many in one area.
There is a waterfall across the street and a nicer one just down the road. I have Verizon and had 4 bars cellular signal and was showing LTE but it was incredibly slow if it worked at all. I would visit again for sure.

Highway along side of campground adds some noise but you get used to that. Two train lines are across the river which adds some extra noise but not too bad. Internet was spotty as there are long term workers camping here and doing online training which eats up bandwidth. No cell service but others did seem to have service. Campground is well cared for. Walking distance to grocery, dollar store, and drug store.

Very accommodating owners. $5 bought a huge pile of firewood, delivered directly to your site. Others have mentioned the private bathrooms/showers, but we were actually assigned a room all to ourselves. This is an excellent place to stay. Our only quibble is that they have very bright lights throughout the campground that stayed on all night. It’s hard to enjoy the stars with all of those lights. Some road noise, and some distant train noise.

This campground is so amazing beautiful and peaceful. We love the river and the trains plus the mountains on either side. Close to some state parks. So there are places to see.
We have a 29 foot camper and there was plenty space for us.

Waterfalls within walking distance, directly on the river, super friendly owner and work camper, and high speed AT&T. We’d stay longer if we could! Fantastic campground, especially in off season so more privacy.

We stayed here our first night after getting our travel trailer. We got to the location a little bit after hours, however the owners met us at our site and helped us back into our location. We stayed by the river which was a beautiful sight to wake up to when opening our windows in the camper. The facility had recently lost water due to frozen pipes, however the price reflected that And we were told I had a time of this issue. Overall a great experience and we would stay here again.

This campground is right on the New River. Our site, 36, was feet away from the edge and parallel to it. It was gravel and surprisingly level, had 30 amp, water and sewer. Cheryl, the owner, was very nice, helpful, offered info about the area. Told us they sold ice and wood by the wheelbarrow for $5. Unfortunately we awoke to the river rising due to the rain from hurricane Michael in North Carolina and dams along the way being opened. We saw many of the campground sites already under water and others quickly disappearing. We moved to higher ground to site 37, that had 50 amp, but as we were sitting outside watching the water it rose even more. Cheryl had come and checked on us quite a few times and told us that the evacuation place was just right down the street at a small shopping center (grocery, CVS, Family Dollar). The water won and we moved to the parking lot. We stayed there 2 nights until the water had receded. There was an amazing amount of driftwood all over the campground but she was out there with helpers cleaning it up. Once there was a place for us to get to we moved back. It’s not a fancy park, a little rustic feeling, but the view is spectacular and we loved it there. There are playgrounds for kids, newer private showers and laundry. It has a boat ramp and she sells bait in her store. It’s in a beautiful area just unfortunate that the water rose while we were there. There are pull-through and back-in sites, some with 30, some 50 amp. I do not remember if they were all full hookup. There are also tent sites. All had fire rings. Wifi was decent up near the bathhouse, Verizon was only sketchy. We paid $25 per night.
