“Free camping on the river.”

The mostly gravel road in was good, with 3 mushy spots and 2 narrow bridges. MilePost advised against it and there are warning signs at the entrance. The road had been graded and was wide enough, if in the unlikely event you encountered a vehicle coming in the opposite direction. You could camp at the entrance to the access road and several places along the road if you did not want to venture all the way.

There are 5 rustic sites with tables and fire pits in a loop around the shelter. There is lots of room to make your own site at this location. Several dirt boat "launches", pit toilet, a large shelter and trash dumpster.

It was just us, the mosquitos and 3 trucks with boat trailers. I got 1 bar of Verizon as we were leaving at the entrance the next morning.

“Nice quiet spot right on the river”

This site is about 58 KM north from Fort Nelson visitor center on the Alaska Hwy (97). There is a small sign on the highway that says Boat Launch. The dirt road is about 2 miles give or take a bit down to the river. Wide rigs may have a problem with the 2 very narrow bridges. Once you pass the second bridge you are about .4 mi from the large open area at the boat ramp. There are about 8 -10 sites that each have a picnic table and fire ring. There is a pit toilet, dumpster, covered picnic shelter with a wood stove, and boat ramp. The dirt road in was in good shape but it is only single lane and not many places to pull over. It was very quiet and beautiful right on the river. Also there is a free dump and drinking water fill up at the Fort Nelson visitor center before you reach the camp.
