“Quiet, relaxing”

Overall Rating

I stayed here in mid March waiting out the winter farther north. I did not make reservations, but I did call first and talked to the campground personnel to verify availability. There is a VERY steep hill driving up to the RV campground area from the check-in area, but the gravel site was easily to access and relatively level. I stayed in a handicap site next to the bath house/laundry area. My site was not a pull through and I couldn't tell if there were any in the area. The park did get a little more active over the weekend, but very nothing loud or rowdy. Laundry was $2.75 a load total for wash/dry and was nice big front load machine. I could easily wash my bedding. The dump station was a little farther up the hill and a rather sharp turn, but I got in with my 24 foot coach and trailer fairly easily and the site was sloped well. The rinse water connection was not working, but that may have been due to the time of the year. All the sites had water/electric, nice tables, lamp posts and campfire rings.

“Beautiful hilltop c/g in a state park. Sites well laid our, asphalt roads. Opens March 1st of the year.”

A perfect find late in the day after touring the Oliver Trailer plant in Hohenwald, TN a few miles east. Access to the park is off a twisting very narrow hilly asphalt backroad from the highway. You see samples of Appalachian rural poverty. The Park entrance is newly paved, narrow and twisting with a very steep hill up to the c/g for RV campers.

Sites are laid out well, several pull troughs, water and electric and wonderful views. It is a pleasant place to stay.

Fee was strange, billed full amount, then discounted for being a Sr. then added a $5 reservation fee when we just dropped in. The only other camper there was in a tent. "Sorry, that's the way we charge." The last TN SP gave the discount and was almost at capacity in electric sites and they was no reservation fee and we spent 4 nights there.

I guess the privatizers with Reserve America get their bucket of blood no matter what part they play.
