Scouted it, very small not level looking sites arranged in a circle so every camper can see every camper. There is no view from the sites. I was happy I didn't haul my camper up there, as it's like a mountain road that is steep with lots of switchbacks. Might make a suitable base camp for bikers and hikers, just not an attractive camping destination for an RV. Also they want to charge you AND demand a Discovery Pass for vehicles ...or something.

Anyway, iceclimber takes a pass.

“Alpine-like campground near the top of Mt. Spokane”

This is a hidden gem that doesn't seem to get much use. The campground is situated near the top of Mount Spokane in an area with alpine meadows and small pine trees. It's about a 30-35 mile drive from Spokane. The sites are small; best suited for tents or smaller RV's. There's a water spigot and a vault toilet. No hook-ups.

This is an excellent destination to use as a basecamp for several summer activities; Mt. Spokane has spectacular mountain biking trails, both above and below the campground. You can also ride the park road to the top of the mountain on a road bike. In both cases you need to enjoy going either up or down. There's nothing flat up here. The mountain biking trails are considered fairly advanced and not really good for beginners. There are also really good hiking trails with plenty of alpine flora and fauna to look at and photograph.

The state park is pet friendly. Dogs need to be on leashes and the rangers WILL remind you of this.

The downhill ski resort trails are only a few hundred yards from the campground. The nordic ski area is well below the campground. During many years the road to the campground isn't open until June. So get up here while you can.

-short season
-can get very cold at night
-room for small RV's and tents only
-no hook-ups.
