The campground is quite small but beautiful tenting sites. Room for about 7 cars, my van fit fine and so would a class c. The campground was much more crowded feeling than I am used to (I full time), so I stayed indoors for the evening. Other campers were quiet overnight. Lots of cars started driving through around 630 ish. I plan to check out the sno park on the way down. That is likely where I would stay in the future.

I’ve been to this campground before. Nice small sites, beautiful landscape. Just tried to stay last weekend and the gate located just passed the Ashland Sno Park is locked which makes the campground inaccessible.

The sites were all good, though close together and only a few were almost level. They all had picnic tables and grills though. The vault toilets were clean, though a bit smellier than most, but they had tp and looked to be well maintained. I wouldn't recommend trying to get anything larger than a Class B though.
The PCT runs close by as well so we saw a handful of hikers pass through.

Great place, great views, nice drive! Would come back. Met a pct hiker and had a chat. Was above the smoke from all the wildfires in the area.

Came on 03/13/18 and couldn’t get all the way back to the camping area in my van because the road was really snowed in.

The actual Mt Ashland campground is hard to get a RV into. There is a small parking area by the vault toilets about 50 feet long on a narrow mountain road. I parked there for a few days because I thought that was the only legal parking. After talking to a Ranger he told me I was allowed to park in the large pull out areas just down the road. The pull out area is huge and can fit any size rig and easy to turn around. Once you hit the dirt road turning around a RV our size is not so easy, at least not for a couple miles.
It is a pretty area with plenty to do. There are a lot of hiking trails, including the PCT, right on top of the mountain. There are some mountain biking trails as well. The drive to Ashland takes about 25 minutes if you need supplies.
Cell coverage works pretty good, and this is a fairly busy area. When I was here there were fires all thru the valley so a lot of people came up the mountain to get away from the smoke. It was also a holiday weekend. I would say a least 50 cars a day pass thru the area.
There are vault toilets that are disgusting, a few picnic tables and fire rings. No trash bins, which they need, or water... But if your in the know you can use the Mt Ashland Ski area bathroom and even get hot water from the sink. There is also a drinking fountain there.
