We called a few hours ahead on a Saturday in May without reservations and were able to get a pull thru for the night( we were just passing thru). Glad we didn’t have to disconnect our toad. We paid $29
We received 2 little bags filled with the makings for s’mores!!

Beautiful! This place was so nice. Roads were great. Easy access to Temple and Waco. Everything looked brand-new. The headquarters was beautiful. Bathrooms were definitely as nice as hotel bathrooms. Playgrounds were really fun for the kids. Several easy trails with lots of things to see along the way. Our campsite (#11) was perfectly level. Each site looks like a zen garden. Everything was clean, well-maintained, and very accessible. They even had a fun scavenger hunt for the kids that resulted in a treat from headquarters. On top of all that, there was a little library at the bathrooms and lots of fun geocaching. If the pond was stocked with fish, we may have stayed longer. Perfect for a short stay!

Camping area has only 20 sites, but the area has lots of trees. We really liked our site (3), but all sites seemed quite private. Sites are pristine - very clean, level concrete pad, gravel was raked. Full hookups (electric, water, sewer), with no problems, except hubby had to use a bit of plumber’s tape on the water connection to keep it from dripping.
Restrooms were spotless. We didn’t use the showers, but I looked in on one and they too are very clean, with outer doors, bench, and inner shower curtain.
Quiet and peaceful - loved hiking the wooded trails and the various Civilian Conservation Corps historical sites around the park. They even have a Little Free Library near the restrooms! Geocaching was fun too - there are nine caches within the park. Other campers were friendly and neighborly. We will definitely be returning.

This place is a gem! Well kept small state park with top notch campground! The sites are pristine with full hookups, well groomed camp areas, and level concrete spots. They are also dispersed enough that you have complete privacy. Nothing else will compare once you stay here.

The visitor's center does have interactive displays and souvenirs.
Be prepared for some noise here! There is a lot of road noise as there is a highway a mere 200 feet from the campground. There is also occasional noise from a rocket facility 6 miles away and an artillery range 10 miles away. That being said, we would still stay here again when in the area.

Beautiful TX State Park... only got to stay one night on our way south but will be back. Very clean and nice spacious sites. Site 2 is a very nice pull through that is generous in size. Rate does not include access fee as we have TSP pass.

We’ve stayed in several TX parks but this one was by far the best. Very large paved sites with a ton of living space plus FHU! Lovely well maintained trails through the park and two nice bird blinds. Good info everywhere on the parks history and Mother Neff’s contribution to the TX state park system. They suffered serious flood damage several years ago and you can tell they put a lot of thought into rebuilding the campground. The bathrooms were the cleanest we’ve ever seen in a park. Camp hosts were diligent about cleaning the areas. Only 30 miles to Waco so perfect for a day trip to town.
