The covered bridge that you travel under to get from town to rockwood is something that should be found in a painting. I had to roll the windows down to travel through the covered bridge so I could hear the wheels against the old wooden beams. Entering the park on the way to the campsites you will notice lake Carlton to your left. Make sure to keep the speed at or below 20. I heard it was strictly enforced. As you wind through the twist and rolls of the road past the lake on your right will be an rc airplane landing strip. The first loop is the loop we chose to camp in, the sites were quite spacious a little un-level. We had to use quite a bit of blocking for the rear jacks of the trailer. It has 15 and 30 power supply. Water and dump station are spacious, they are on the left hand side of the road just after the rc airstrip. Loop 3 has a playground for the kids in the center and wide open. Loop three is the loop for you if you have a monster of a rv. I have a 34 ft long rv and it fit in site 11 just fine. Roads are decently wide and easy to get to. At the site we were towards the end of the line facing the trees, which in the morning are filled with birds. Raccoons are also abundant, we had 10 go wandering past our camper around 10pm on Friday night, so be mindful of the things you leave out over night. Walking trails are here but are not manicured. They are easy to get to and very well shaded for a nice morning stroll through the woods. All in all the trip was very enjoy and a campfire in the woods was exactly what Was needed to put this modern world on hold. Cell service for Verizon was 2 bars lte. Not the fastest connection in the world but enough to stay connected with reality if you so wish.

This campground is a really nice state park in the countryside of western IL. Sites are a good size and most have woods around them for privacy. There are several camp hosts, all of whom were friendly and helpful. There's a nice restaurant in the park, overlooking the lake. Food is tasty and reasonably priced. They have well-maintained hiking trails, as well as a boat dock where you can rent paddle boats or kayaks. We camped here over the weekend and it was quiet and peaceful. We stayed in the 1st loop of campsites. Note that the map on Reserve America shows a water spigot across from site 7; however, it is really across from site 21. We had decent cell service and could get some local TV channels using our antennae and booster. There is also a quaint covered bridge between the park and the town of Morrison. If you go left out of the park, you'll go through the covered bridge. It has clearance of 14 feet 6 inches, so we could fit easily under it in our fifth wheel, which is 13'4" high. We stayed here in a 35 foot fifth wheel, and had 50 amp service.
