“Amazing spot 15 minutes off the highway ”

This is one of the better free campspots we’ve come across. It’s about 15 min off the I-94 through some maintained enough gravel farm roads (Google/Waze take you right to it using “Moon Lake Campground”).

We rolled through on a Tuesday in August. When we got there, there was a family using the lake and parked at the closest spot by the water.

A couple of hours before dusk, they took off. We moved right down by the water and had the whole place to ourself. A couple of picnic tables, grills and fire pits are scattered on the grounds. Vault toilet was functional. AT&T service was a bar at most.

Pro tip: Hidden under the light pole by the water, there is a standard 110v connection. If you get the spot down by the lake, you get power too!

“Small grass field next to a lake”

Just a small grass field next to the lake, sign says up to 10 days consecutive. Stayed one night in 21ft class C. One other tent camper but enough room for few RVs. The road coming in from the north was flooded so I would suggest coming in from the south via 40th st. There was a bathroom but I didn’t go in it. Water looked swimable and a few picnic tables and fire pits.
