“Nice Little Campground”

Good campground just north of Boise. Arrived on a Saturday night and still two spots left after we grabbed one. They have quiet hours to avoid late night generators and about 2-3 bars of workable Verizon. Overall clean location and would stay again. Paid $8 for the camper van.

Nice little campground here and the price is spectacular. There are 16 sites which are all paved, level and large enough to handle most any sized rig, though it could certainly be tight for the largest of rigs. Each site has a trash can, picnic table and fire ring. The camp is laid out in two separate loops and the sites are fairly close to each other. There is a camp host, a few water spigots and a dump station. No electric hookups. Access here is an easy ride of a handful of miles on a paved road from Idaho Hwy 52. All first-come, first served sites here. I arrived on a Friday around noon and snagged the one remaining non-handicap site. There are 2 handicap sites which the camp host will allow to be used if available.
The roads bordering the camp (one paved, one gravel) are a bit busier than one might expect. Lots of trees and shade here which would make solar use sketchy at best, though not impossible depending on the site. There is a well maintained pit toilet and a large day use area adjacent to the campground. Surprisingly decent Verizon signal here.

There is a tent area, no real sites, just lots of green mowed grass.
Self pay at the iron ranger, cash or check for $8 per night. The campground became almost full on Thursday of a 3 day weekend (Juneteenth).
Big rig friendly with a tight feeling, do watch for overhead branches in the upper loop.
A paved road is on one side of the campground and a dirt road is on another side. We camped in site 14 which parallels this dirt road. There is some dust but luckily the wind blew the dust away from our campsite and it had rained a few days before.

Great location near the Payette River, Black Canyon Reservoir, and the town of Emmett. All RV sites have shade, the walk to tent sites are just on the grass without much shade. RV sites tend to be for shorter vehicles. Grounds and restrooms are well kept. The only drawback are the mosquitoes - there are thousands of them. I had planned on staying the full two weeks permitted but after 10 days I couldn’t take it any more and left for a desert campground. Also, there is a large group that meets there every year for the Memorial Day weekend so that is not a good time to go. They squeeze in two and even three to a site so it was hard getting in and out even with only my Subaru.

The bathrooms were marginally clean, the well water did not taste good. No ATT service.

Would have loved to stay here. Beautiful wildlife management area, song birds by the droves. Campground gates are closed though and guessing from the other parks, likely will be until May. Shame. It’s 70 degrees and a beautiful day.

Fishing the river and ATV'ing nearby. Quiet enough these week days but some generators.

Lots are large, any size RV would fit. Dump station, portable water and bathrooms available. Bathrooms were clean. Plenty of grass and walkable space for your furry friends! Close to the river and a great in between location if you are checking out western Idaho between McCall and Boise! We did not have any issues with noise or an excess of crowds, but we did hear that the weekends can get busy. It’s first come first serve.
