We had expected partial hookups but only dry camping was available. Our site faced the road but had some separation by trees and shrubs, so we were hopeful. However, traffic and construction near by made it noisy early and a non-existent quiet time (or one that was not enforced) made it noisy until midnight or later both nights. Unfortunate because the spot was pretty, right on Montana Creek where we hear the fishing is excellent.
Our site had a picnic table with an umbrella, a fire ring and a wood fired grill. Wood was available at the camp office. The site was not level, and the base was dirt with a little gravel. It probably would not be too bad if the weather was dry, but it rained both days we were there, and it was pretty messy. No wii-fi, and no AT&T service there, although you could drive a couple of miles north to the gas station and get some coverage. There was potable water but no dump station, and the toilets were porta-potties, no showers. There was plenty of trees and shade.
An inconvenient thing for the dry camping sites, which were not restricted to tents, was that, when you pulled up to the office to check in, you were far beyond access to any road that took you to the dry camping area. Unless you backed up to the road again, which we did not do, you had to go the wrong way to your campsite. And the roads in all areas of the park are pretty narrow, not allowing you to swing out to get around some of the tight corners. Withe care, we managed OK with our 23-foot travel trailer, but I can't imagine getting anything of any real size in there.

It has a lot of potential. Sites could be improved with some nice gravel and some tree trimming. Many of the sites and the camp loops are very dusty. Some sites had BBQ's, some with tables and umbrellas, some with grass, some with sun, some with shade, some dry, some with power. Porta potties, river access, store, tunnel to the area across the highway for more river access. Current road construction on the bridge is imposing on this property (July 2022). You can hear the highway, but not as bad toward the back of the campground.
They take reservations, but probably not needed except when the fishing is on.

Campground was crowded, no barriers of any kind between sites, and right next to the highway. Lots of noise. No sewer at all, if you need to dump it’s a 5 minute drive up the highway….and $20. On the upside, employees were nice and helpful. Bottom line, it’s a no for me.

“Good for a short stay on the road north”

We stayed on our way north to Denali. We had a nice, secluded site tucked back away from other campers, and enjoyed exploring the Montana Creek drainage on mountain bikes. From the campground, you can access a bike path that provides access to the creek and surrounding area.
Eric would stay here again
