We boondocked on our way to California - temps were in the 100s during the day so we only stayed for the night and boogied outta there the next morning. Nobody likes running a generator for AC!! The road that leads to this area appears to be an abandoned paved road (maybe the original highway), so it is very rough, with many people opting to drive in the ditch/shoulder rather than on the actual pavement. Probably for that reason there are few other people in the area. Way quieter than closer to town. The area is all packed rock and quite flat. No levelling required for us. There are fire rings all over the place. Closest neighbor was a couple of hundred yards away. It is quite dusty and there is a pretty good stream of atvs driving by our site. Luckily, we parked on the North side of the "road" that leads to our site, and the prevailing wind seems to be from the North (quite windy a couple of days) so the dust from the atvs blew away from us.

Many groups camp here in the winter months including the Escapees and the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous. 14 day limit which requires a free permit but no services at all. Probably a 15 minute drive to town, about half of it un-paved, so you’re a bit away from all the tens of thousands of other motorhomes closer to Quartzsite.
