If it’s dry, the “loop road” will take you through lovely cypress swamps with many gators. If wet, it might be underwater (!) the campground itself is small -15 or so sites spread out under the trees. Not that private, but there’s space between sites. When we were here (a rainy February) it got pretty buggy at night. There’s an airboat ramp at the end of the campground, used by locals. And two clean pit toilets. Campground hosts are super friendly! Must reserve on reservation.gov though.
In short, a nice little stop when exploring the preserve.

The campsites Are Basic With Pit Toilets, This Is A Location For Convenience To Attractions In The Park And Is Basically A Cleared Space In A Thicket. However If You Are Viewing The Huge Amount Of Alligators And Wading Birds Along The Loop Rd (94) This Is A Great Spot. I would stay again but it isn’t going to make anyone’s top 10.

Close to a cool forest. Not much wood to gather. They don't sell it to you either. Clean. Usual camp experience. Saw an alligator. Have heard other animals sneaking around.
