I actually met my husband at this campground…. So I’m sort of attached to it. But lately I’ve found myself looking for other quick weekend get away spots.
The management here is on some sort of power trip. Not letting friends visit us while we camp, only two vehicles per site, parking in specific ways around your camper…. Coming here used to be relaxing… now we sit around the fire discussing what we might get in trouble for next.
But I mean… they have nice camp sites.

Arriving and check-in at the campground was really easy except for the fact that they didn't give you a site map so we had to search for our site by looking at the worn out numbers on the road. Once we got to our site it was great though. Site 74 is definitely for shorter campers, we have a 17 foot camper and it was perfect, but would have been a little nicer for something deeper. The campground itself was busy and families with kids and dogs were everywhere, which makes me feel like I'm truly getting the family camping experience. People were polite and the park quieted down quickly at night. There are newer restrooms and showers that are very clean but still some really old outhouse style restrooms throughout the camp. This campground is pretty big so if you like to walk, there is the paved park but also some small trails that go to the beach which are nice. We wanted to hike so we found the Heron Trail...very disappointing. It looks like they recently took a bulldozer through it and tore everything down. We didn't enjoy it at all, the beauty of nature was destroyed. We are hoping they are working to beautify it because it is an absolute mess in its current state. Otherwise the beach was nice and clean but has rougher sand. Would definitely go back and check out some of the other trails, the lake was beautiful and overall it we had a great time.

We did go into Peru which is only about 10-15 minutes away for some groceries and propane. It was a nice stopover for us on a road trip headed west.

This is a beautiful campground. The gravel sites are spacious enough and lots of grassy area. Being a big rig we did brush against some small branches backing in, but they were just twigs and no damage. Some sites do have trees. Sites 114-151 are full hookup with 30/50 amp service. There is a lake with boating and a nice beach and swimming. Playground for children and nice dump sites on the way out. No wifi and little cell service.
This is off the highway and off the beaten path, but a nice park to visit. Well maintained.

Sites are not level. Was jam packed on the weekend. Bathrooms were clean staff were friendly and helpful. Nothing to get excited about stayed 2 nights. Were missing a picnic table when we arrived. Staff handled it promptly and friendly.

The kids loved riding bikes all around the camp on the paved roads. There were some nice biking trails around the park too. Not a lot though. And a little hiking but not a lot. We took one especially nice ride all the way down to the reservoir. It was early May so the water was still closed, but we had a really nice weekend anyway. The weather was just perfect! The bath house leaves a little to be desired, but we had our RV so no big deal.

The sites are medium sized, with mostly grass in between, so not a lot of privacy, but some do back up onto wooded areas. There was lots of wildlife, deer, bald eagles, etc. The park has lots of trails and a disc golf course. It's a nice place, but if you don't like crowds, I'd recommend trying to avoid busy weekends, as this could easily become a mad house!

This site was identified as only 25 feet but easily fit our 40’ class A. Well stocked camp store near the beach. Fire wood delivered to sites each night at a reasonable cost. I’m sure camping during the week would be much more relaxing. 2 bars of service but Internet was nonexistent due to large number of people.
