“Large & very busy”

Overall Rating

Very large park and extremely busy.

We didn't use or view the bathrooms/showers. Sites are gravel and most are shaded but not very level, ours was one of the few that was mostly level. Sites include fire ring/grill and 2 small wooden picnic tables that could use some TLC. Nice 3 bay dump station. Overall the park was clean and seemed to be patroled regularly by rangers.

We couldn't get the wi-fi signal at all. Sites are fairly close together, we've certainly been places where the fit is tighter. Lots of families and water craft (boats, water skis, waverunners and other water toys.) The store in the picnic area has a nice selection of camping items & food, the young lady who took our ice cream order could use a lesson in providing pleasant customer service, she seemed annoyed that we were there.

We arrived on a Friday so the weekend crowd came in full force and there was lots of traffic which kept it noisy. One neighbor had 2 dogs that barked at everyone and everything. When we checked in we were charged an additional $7 'vehicle fee' ???, not sure what that was about. Also note that the federal Golden Age Pass is not honored at this state managed Corp. of Engineers park.

Considering the campground's lake location and the fact that it's peak season, totally expected the busy weekend crowd which creates more noise and overall traffic but for the $30 per day electric only site (with the $7 vehicle fee, $5 'transation fee' and taxes on top of that) we didn't feel it was worth the cost.

In summary, the park is OK but nothing special, especially for the cost.

“Popular Lake Campground”

When we were here it was mostly rainy and clearly had been raining a lot recently. As a result of all the water it was a bit of a muddy mess. However, there was lots of green grass and trees. Sites are pretty closely spaced and many are not level. Ours was not nearly as long as specified on their reservation site but we got in just fine. Pretty empty and quiet during the week and really filled up on Friday night.

4G service for both Verizon and AT&T with usable download 3-4 mbps but upload even with a booster was a struggle (< 1 mbps on VZN and maybe 1 mbps with AT&T)
