Miners Canyon Dispersed Camping

We loved our stay here! We met a fellow RVer a few weeks back and told her we were planning on staying at Miners Canyon and she told us it was terrible and to find another place. I am glad we didn't take her word for it because we really enjoyed our time. There are several sites close to the main road, but we chose to camp closer to the lake to get the amazing views. There is room for large and small rigs here and the road isn't too bad, just go slow. I will warn you to look out for nails at your site. We used a big magnet and collected over 50 just by our fire pit. I loved this spot because even though it's close to town, it feels so remote and peaceful.

Spent quite some time here, also to visit SLC and friends in the area. Great for walks with the dog. Numerous sites for all sizes of rigs. Easy to access along the good gravel road down to the boat slip area. But hill sites also accessible to bigger units if you explore the terrain in daylight. Be careful when it's becoming darker as the area may have deep ditches from loads of rain/snow melt going down to the river. Some 4-wheelers, hanggliders, boaters, fishing crews on the weekends but still pretty quiet. Fascinating changes of weather, clouds, light. Saw some wonderful rainbows and... the solar eclipse, together with a couple dozen extra visitors in the area. Will be back! Also to pick some more trash, as always. Took out about 8 large bags over the time. It's incredible what people take for their 'right' in a place like this. Also tons of bullet cases although you can find 'no shooting' signs everywhere. Thanks, BLM, for keeping a place like this in good shape (fixed the entrance to the main road with gravel while we were there)!

Arrived around 5pm the day before Memorial day. We were able to find a spot but it was pretty full. Unfortunately someone came in later and parked across from us (that part is not the problem.... We don't mind sharing) and decided to"share"music until well after dark. It was a nice quiet until then. There are a lot of spiky burrs in the ground. Seemed to be a lot of gnats out but since it started storming shortly after we arrived they didn't bother us in our rig. We might come back again and hope we have more considerate neighbors next time. It was fun to watch the storm come over the mountain and go over the lake.

A pretty decent spot near Provo. Tons of trash scattered about the area, everything from the typical beer bottles to empty 55 gallon drums. The area is not super big, as per previous reviews the lakefront camping is closed and it’s obvious why. I’m sure tons of trash was ending up in the water. The ATVs and dirt bikes will ride around in circles all day especially on weekends. All that being said, It’s a good place to sleep with great views to wake up to in the morning. If in the area in the future I would stay again, it beats Walmart.

Easy access off Hwy 68. Quite a trek to get there through congested town of Saratoga Springs from I15 but that doesn't bother us. Good gravel road turn-off Hwy 68, and ample amount of sites, but sites are not gravel. Very rutted, large rocks in places and hard to level rig. Extremely dirty sites. Gunshot shell casings, and remnants of targets (mostly glass & ceramic plate shards). Typical amount of dog waste scattered about. We watched as neighboring rig dwellers emptied kitty litter box right at site. What's new? It was an extremely windy evening with lots of fine dust, but that's boondocking for sure! No worries. The lake and mountain views were much admired by us from within the safety and security of our TT. Good for a one night free stay.

We arrived after a long day of driving from Wyoming. There were plenty of spots available, depending how close you want to be by the lake. We found an ample space for our large setup (72 feet in total length), so turn around space is important. There was garbage at our site and I picked it up. We had nice, breezy and cool weather (mid October) with nice lake views. There is a Maverick not too far from the lake with free water and dump, plus garbage. Plenty of shopping and eateries in Saratoga Springs. Plenty to do in town (including 2 scenic drives: Alpine and Big Cottonwood Scenic Drive), and when you return to the lake, it is a nice relief from the heavy traffic in town and a beautiful setting. Friendly people when we camped there and you can walk up the nearby hill for a good view of your surroundings.

The internet was so-so. It would be great if you had Starlink as there are no trees in the area. We have a router with sim cards from Verizon and AT&T and we had a LOT of buffering if we wanted to stream a movie. Even our cell phones acted up, so not a good place for internet.

Other than that, we had a good time and would recommend this place for BIG rigs (like us with a semi), peacefulness and stargazing.

This Was A Beautiful View! The Dirt Road Does Take You To The Edge But You Can’t Camp Near The Water. There’s A Few Hills And Plenty Of Space. I Went on a Monday Evening and there was about 12 Different cars, Seems to be a Popular destination for people traveling through. I did see Signs For Private Property So Just Keep an eye On Those. You Could See The Lights Of Provo And Orem across The Lake…

Ideal place to chill, not a lot of shade or things to do in the area maybe a little exploring but great for star gazing. I had a few cars arrive a bit late at night. So careful not staying to close to the road.
