“Amazing, 4x4 Accessible Single Vehicle Spots”
Reviewed Jul 10, 2019
This spot overlooks the entire valley, where the town of Mckay nestles within an enclave of Idaho mountains. After driving up dirt roads that lead to various interesting abandoned mining structures (which are now part of a 'tour loop'), you will arrive at two separate camping spots - each big enough for a van, car top arrangement, or very daring small trailer. The roads aren't horrid - but they do require a bit of high clearance and if it got rainy - definitely 4x4.
The upper spot (with the best views) didn't appear to be great for tenting. Rocks are prevalent, and there isn't a a great spot to spread out a tent without rocks 'massaging' you all night. There is a level enough area for a van or battle wagon, however.
There is a lower area that may be better for a tent.
Both areas have remnants of fire pits.
The roads surrounding the area are used to tour old mine shafts, building, and other interesting artifacts. ATVs also enjoy this area.
16 day stay limit. Verizon was 3G/1bar.
