> River is lovely for swimming, floating, paddleboarding - the section of the river that millar's bar opens on to enclosed by shallow spots both upstream and downstream. but it is a nice little stretch of deeper water for swimming.
> It makes a nice before/after spot for harris beach SP - which may be our favorite campground ever
> Dispersed camping means you can really set up where you want and with varying size groups.
Cons:
> As a mixed race family we felt uncomfortable here based upon the strength of feeling and messaging on a small number of other campers' rigs.
> ACCESS - we were in a 23ft trailer at the time and it was ok with our length and height. But, i'm not sure we could make it back there in our fifth wheel. Also seriously - watch out for the drop off at the bottom of the switch backs - right as you access the bar. It's maybe 1-2ft from memory.... Scout ahead and choose which route works best for your rig. There are two options as you enter the beach area.
> Dog poop - and lots of it. Come on people - pick up!! It makes the pebble beach a bit hazardess for small kids playing, and spoils the spot generally. Clean up!
> Recent forest fires makes the vegetation a little fried looking - but that's nature!
> Party area - it's definitely an area that attracts summer partying and groups.
> Fishing - it was a little tricky mixing swimmers and fishers

Cons:
> The road down to it is a little twisty and part of the road has fallen in making it feel a little sketchy. At the bottom of the road it forks onto the beach - choose the right fork. The drop off is small and better for bigger rigs than the left option.
> POOP - doggy POOP EVERYWHERE. which is gross and extra challenging when you have kids wanting to play on the pebble beach. Pick up people!!!
> It was also quite noisy some nights with locals coming up just for the evening and partying.

Winding road down to river bar may be difficult for large trailers or inexperienced drivers. There is also a slight drop off at the bottom of the road that can be dangerous if not paying attention. This is 100% dry camping no services, minimal to no cell signal. Porta-potty on the river bar. Dumpster on site for garbage disposal. You are able to pull your camp trailer right up to the water and the scenery is majestic! Perfect for river kayaking and rafting. Kids love hunting for frogs, crawdads, and newts which are plentiful in the river. Very large rocks on the river bar and no sand. We love boondocking here. Can be packed and noisy on holiday weekends such as Father’s Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, etc....

The drive is beautiful and turns into one lane which can be sketchy at times.
When you get to the left, downhill, "turn" to go to the river bottom, beware that it is narrow and fairly steep. We made it in our 33' fifth wheel but we did meet a camper with a trailer leaving and it was very difficult to pass each other.
The river beach is wide, and long. Plenty of space for 50-100 campers. We arrived on a hot summer Sunday and it was pretty busy but not terrible. If we had found that cell service was available, we would have stayed.
