Incredible spot with many sites, picnic tables, fire pits, and well-maintained bathrooms. No one was here when we were here. Decent cell phone coverage. It seems you can swim in the river.

“Incredible and off the beaten path”

Overall Rating

Free camping on the bank of the Middle Loup River. Easy access for Class C or small trailer. Just before camping area there is a sharp U turn that would be difficult for larger rigs and turn around within the camping area a bit tight.

This is not a developed campground, but there is a modern outhouse. No electric, no water, no dump station. A well maintained county gravel road the last four miles. Dirt road inside the camping area.

The dam was letting out a lot of water through the spillway in mid-May and the sites nearby were loud, but a quarter mile down there is a grass strip and it was quiet.

Eagle, turkey, deer, duck, heron.....very peaceful location.
