Milford State Park

We did a drive-thru to eyeball some of the campgrounds. The first couple campgrounds we visited at the first left when entering the park were not preferable for us. The hook-ups were odd and a number of them really close to your neighbor. More conducive for folks wanting to be very close to others. Then we drove through Cedar Point CG and it would be more to our liking, more space between sites and fairly level. Uncertain if all the sites had working electric and water, looked very old and in disrepair. There are a couple more campgrounds that we didn’t visit. Maybe they are better. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and there were still a number of sites available.

This lake is HUGE, and there are 5 or 6 campgrounds just in the state park area. You have to pay the $5/day or have an annual pass per vehicle (think per engine, 5th wheels/trailers don't count) in addition to the camp fee (we had the annual so we paid 21 per night). We had electric and 20/30 amp, no sewer.

We were at site 119 of Prairie View campground. Almost all of the spots were on the shoulders of the winding roads. The person next to us pulled in the wrong way and too close to our site but I was able to parallel park (by some act of God). Other than these spots being really tight from front to back, the park was excellent!

Beach, splash pad, playground, bathroom/shower house were all in great condition and within a 5-10 min walk or 2-3 min drive. There is a marina on the north side and boats/jet skis for rent.

Fishing was good, us and neighbors caught white bass, catfish, largemouth, drum and carp.

Firewood is $6/bundle and available generally any every campground near each camp host.

We stopped here on the way through Kansas on I-70 after reading the reviews below. It took us just over 15 minutes to get to the park from I-70 in the dark and rain and we were able to find several open sites on a Wednesday night in early April in the Eagle Ridge area of the park. Since we arrived late and left early we only hooked up electricity but full hook-up was available. In the morning we could see that the lake and the park are just gorgeous—crabapples in full bloom!—and would love to come back to actually enjoy the park and the views. Only complaint is that the sites are closer together than I like, but for a quick overnight stay that didn’t matter.

Stayed here 1/3/20, 11/23/19, and 3/30/19. We have stayed here multiple times on our way through Kansas. The park is open year round and we have stayed in both full hook up and primitive sites. The campgrounds are well maintained, clean, and the roads are paved. They have a wide range of accomodations. We found it easy to get to from the interstate and will surely stay here again.

We stayed here on a Wednesday night in mid-October and had the entire campground to ourselves, outside of the camp host. We only stayed one night as part of a 3-week roadtrip and arrived at the campground just before dark so we didn’t get out to see the rest of the park or any of the facilities offered to campers.

We stayed in Cedar Point Loop site number 013. The campsite is right in the tip of a peninsula jutting our into the lake, there was literally only about 3 feet from the back of our rig to the lake water. Admittedly, the camp host said the water level was very high due to recent storms, so at other times of year the water may not be so near.

Since this loop is on a peninsula, many of the sites are lakefront properties and I would assume they are in super high demand during the busier months of the season.

Site 013 was gravel and offered electric hookups but no water. With our 25-foot rig we were perfectly level without any blocks, but longer rigs may have difficulty leveling as the end of the pad closest to the loop had a pronounced slope.

While it was tough to get a true feel for it because the campground was empty and it was mostly dark while we were here, but it did look like the campsites were pretty close together in this loop. I’d imagine if you stayed here during a busier time of year, you would get to know your neighbors pretty well.

Verizon cell coverage was excellent offering 42 Mbps down and 19 Mbps up.

Based on what we saw at this time of year, we would definitely stay here again ... but would probably do it in the off season to avoid the crowds mentioned in other reviews.

SECOND REVIEW: Stayed here on Labor day weekend...got the last spot for sunday, stayed til thursday...place was packed like disneyland but they all left by tuesday...shower/bathroom building isnt nice, no hot water or at least i couldnt get it to work...they charged extra for a spot because it had 50 amp hookup which they consider a premium spot even though it isnt along the water. The verizon signal is suspect, not as great as people say Its a nice spot to stay during week but stay away on weekends fri - sun....FIRST REVIEW: site #11 was awesome 20 feet to water, views all around...clean site and helpful camp host! planning on a return soon...local to fort riley and a small town of junction city for supplies. Abilene is west - home of Eisenhower Presidential library if you need a detour - Verizon was strong for work and streaming via jetpack

We were pleasantly surprised by the beauty of this state park. We had never stayed in Kansas before an could only envision vast fields of wheat not a lake oasis like this. Plenty of shade to keep you cool and of course the lake to dip in as well. This park was quite busy while we were there but everyone was courteous and friendly. The park boasts equestrian facilities and we did have some neighbors bring their horses. Something we don't see everyday in campgrounds so it was kind of neat. Full hookups were great and great Verizon service allowed us to work. We stayed here the first week of June 2017. Nearby Fort Riley has a great museum and there are plenty of amenities in the town of Junction City. We really liked the Wash-Tyme Laundromat there. All-in-all this was a very nice stay and we will definitely visit again when traveling through Kansas.
