“It's dusty but it's a place to park your rig”

Reviewed May 01, 2019

Overall Rating

Stayed 2 nights. You pull in off the main road and you reach a sign that says no camping beyond this point. We camped to the right of the road you pull in on. There were two large boulders there almost blocking where we parked. I reversed the 5th wheel between them. Backed all the way up to the fire pit. We have a 42' 5th wheel and a f... more

“Best free option around the Caverns!”

Reviewed Mar 30, 2019

This is the road that connects Chosa Campground (big parking lot BLM set up for trailers) to Parks Ranch (the other free spot for trailers) and beyond. All along are fire rings and spots for smaller vehicles and tents. There are several ‘NO CAMPING’ signs that seem to have confused some reviewers and we saw a few people cluttered i... more

Site is still open and being used I was there 2/25/19 and stayed at both locations. You can access the site from Mile marker 10. There are signs saying "No Camping past this sign" just don't go past the sing. You can go left down a dirt road about 1 mile over a cow grate and then turn right. There is a nice quiet spot with a small fire... more

“Dispersed Tent Camping Only”

Reviewed Oct 22, 2018

Overall Rating

Trailers are only allowed within the Parks Ranch - Primitive Campground. Parking trailers along the road to the Primitive Campground is not allowed. Dispersed tent camping is allowed along the road to the Parks Ranch Primitive Campground as long as the camp is 300' from the road. The Carlsbad Field Office is currently in the process of... more

“Only really 1 site now”

Reviewed May 04, 2018

Overall Rating

Stopped in here on April 26 2018 but didn't actually stay. There is still one clear site on the right just after turning into the area, but it doesn't seem that the local property owners appreciate the sites further up the road being used. A fresh-looking sign (metal was still bright, no rust) "No Camping Beyond This Point" sign had be... more

“Perfect Boondocking for Carlsbad Caverns. Can be very windy!”

Reviewed Apr 26, 2018

Overall Rating

This is a perfect boondocking location for a visit to Carlsbad Caverns. Only a couple of miles down the road from White's City and the National Park entrance. If you need fuel, groceries, laundry, etc. its a easy 20 mile drive into the town of Carlsbad for "normal" prices. We boondocked at Mile 10 Dispersed for 4 nights and although cl... more

“Super place between Guadelupe and the caverns.”

Reviewed Apr 17, 2018

Overall Rating

We found out the campground at Guadelupe NP had no hookups and the campgrounds in Carlsbad are not for free.
So why not dry camp at no costs at BLM-land.
Nice place not far from the 62/180.

You also can stay the night at the rest area close to Guadelupe.

“Great views, very quiet”

Reviewed Jan 07, 2018

There are actually several BLM roads west of Carlsbad Caverns on 180 on the left, just past the road to Rattlesnake Springs on the right. We camped on the second road, not rough at all, and explored the third which was also very driveable. Lots of rabbits, coyotes singing, spectacular sunsets, views into the Guadalupe Mountains, and ... more
