Midtown Mountain Campground & RV Park

We were derailed from our original plans and ended up in Ruidoso. We were able to register online but called the park instead because of weather concerns. Didn’t catch his name but the guy was super friendly. Allowed us to pick our site but looked for any other options also. Bathrooms were clean, on-site laundry was clean, park was clean. We were just a 3 minute walk from the Lowe’s Marketplace grocery store and around the corner from the downtown shops. We saw elk and deer in the streets downtown. Wi-Fi was good. Not a lot of in park grass for walking the dog but a trail out the back of the park.

Echoing other reviews: this is our favorite campground in Ruidoso. A great walking trail for the dogs, thoughtful touches, large group sites, walking distance to a great local bookstore and midtown shops—we love to camp here year-round. You do go through the downtown area with some narrow lanes and turns, but it’s totally doable if you drive slowly.

We reserved 3 nights and ended up booking 2 additional nights. We loved our stay. Most sites are wide enough to park yourTV next to your RV. Seems a little tight for bigger rigs but we saw several Class A’s that maneuvered fairly easy into the site. Our site was level with tall Ponderosa Pines. Village of Ruidoso is just around the corner and is a great place to walk, see the wall murals, shop, eat, etc. there is a nice river walk that you can access at the back of the campground and takes you right into town. Cedar Creek and Albertsons is just a few miles away, same for Grindstone Lake. Road noise all day but by later evening, it was very quiet. Saw an elk walking through the lower campground. Restrooms/Showers were very clean and there is a small laundry room. I wasn’t ready to leave. Hope to come back again. Highly recommend.

Sharp turn in off a busy (tourist town) road. Very, very small (30ft)sites (see photos) I was discouraged from the site I wanted. The dog “park” smaller than our site. We watched a guy try a 17-point turn to back his TT in. He hit something. Behind our rig, was a huge embankment (see photo) and there were Christmas lights everywhere! All the extension cords laying in the wet snow, puddles and plugged into our box.
Would not come back here. I gave them 4 stars because they are a small business and stars mean everything. They were trying for a “vibe” but I didn’t get it. I just seen a bunch of weird stuff all over the place. The showers were clean and had hot water. I’m not sure how this place got “best” campground in New Mexico but I wasn’t impressed at all.

I don't like RV parks, crowded, overpriced and noisy. Not this place. Sites are well spaced and easy to back into. Staff is amazingly friendly and very helpful. The park is clean and right in the middle of town. Rich, Anna and the rest of the family have done a great job converting a run down dump to a first class place.

I have a 20' Coachman towed with a Suburban and had plenty of space for both rigs side by side with room to party.

My only complaint would be if I wanted to stay there again they would probably be full. Good for them, bad for me. Oh well, move on down the road to substandard digs.

This place is incredible. Great location right off the shopping strip nestled in the tall pines. Super clean heated/air conditioned bathrooms/showers. Great gift shop(we spent a lot there). Next to a wonderful, small local grocery store. Owners of the campground lives on site and SUPER polite and helpful. My 6 year old triplets roasted s’more’s that they provided. Two years in a row we’ve been and plan to again next year.
