The farthest Northern developed campground in Death Valley. We are so glad it's still first come first serve. If you come in before 2 pm (or so) you'll get your choice of spots. Bring everything (food supplies, ice, etc) you'll need for your stay because this is WAY out in the middle of nowhere. And the general store in Furnace Creek is pretty sparce and a long way aways.

Nice campground with water and dump station at the entrance and picnic table and fire ring at each site. The sites vary in size from smaller to extra large for big rigs.

Surrounded by 8'000 ft mountains. A storm blew in from the north and the wind howled for the 48 hours we were there. And it snowed all over the mountains and rained on the campground some even! It felt like Mt Everest when we went up to hike the Ubehebe Crater rim.
I was surprised to find flush toilets, (instead of pit toilets) in this desert environment. That Mesquite Springs really puts the water out. There is a working dump station too. This campground is in the far Northern section of Death Valley. Far from the busy crowds of the Furnace Creek area.

The campsites are well maintained, flat and pretty large. There are washrooms onsite and a place to wash your dishes.
The only downside was that it was really windy the day we were there, not much in the way to block the wind but we still had a great night and I would stay here again.

This is our favorite cg in Death Valley. It is not like the parking lot campgrounds near the visitor centers. Mesquite Springs is along a giant wash that was fun to explore and very close to Ubehebe Crater that has a great rim hike. It is quiet and dark.

The roads are paved and the sites are gravel and well spaced, but not terribly level. Very dark at night - the stars are amazing. This is a great jumping off point to go to the Racetrack. Heed the park advice and start out in the morning. It took us 2 hours to drive each way. Also, as Scotty's castle is closed right now, there is very little traffic on the roads in the northern part of the park so it is a great place to ride a bike! No cell service.
