No one had reviewed this area and I had a hard time finding information about the area. It looked good using satellite images, so we thought we would give it a try.
Once we made the turn on the access road there was a sign for the off road area on the right. The power lines/telephone lines seemed too low for our tall rig. The cattle grade was not in great shape and we didn’t know how the road would be, so we went on to our Plan B spot at the free city campground at Kearny Lake.
We went and checked the area out, without the 5th wheel. Staying to the right of the water tanks the road continued about 1/2 mile. It was in pretty good shape.
Once we got to the camping area, There was a cattle guard and gate. This area was in very sad shape and disrepair. I should probably have given this place a 1 star, but a tenter or small RV might find this place okay. It almost looked like it was intended to be a day use area.
There were ramadas, tables, fire pits and trash cans at each site, which were very close together. There was also plenty of trash, broken glass, missing ramada roofs, broken bathroom windows and the bathrooms were locked. Good cell service though!
We checked out the OHV area in the Razor. which consisted of some rocky roads, some of which were marked.
