Overall Rating

We spend three nights here back in September of 2016 and had a great experience. The park is in a really pretty spot along an offshoot of the Mississippi River. This would be a great place for some R&R if you're into fishing. Folks were out on the water from before sunrise until after dark, and we saw quite a few of our fellow campers bring back catches.

We didn't stay in the designated RV campground so our neighbors were tents and very small trailers. Our site backed up right to the water's edge, making it easy to access with our kayak.

Despite staying here on a weekend, it wasn't very crowded or noisy, and we had exceptional views and plenty of shade. The park rangers we met were very friendly and were really helpful during our stay.

We didn't visit Fountain City itself, though we did go to nearby Winona for groceries and to go laundry following our stay at Merrick.
