A very beautiful campsite located on the Natchez Trail!
It’s very wooded so for solar it’s a bit difficult!
There is no sewer or electricity but there are drinking water points and toilets!
All this for free!
There are beautiful walking trails and it is possible to cycle.
Fairly quiet campsite during our visit.
Park against there were tons of wasps!!!!
Impossible to eat outside or even sit down without getting bitten!
We would have stayed more than two days but the wasps got the better of us!
T-Mobile fits nicely into our site across from the restrooms

We spent 2 nights here, the campground is well spread out. However most sites will need some leveling, most are graded for water run off. The parking spots being paved is a welcomed surprise. The city of Hohenwald is just a few minutes down the road.
The AT&T signal in our site was strong enough to work with an antenna.

On April 6th of 2023, we arrived at Meriwether Lewis Campground near Hohenwald, TN after driving the full length of the Natchez Trace and stayed for two weeks.
Meriwether Lewis Campground is a free campground with water spigots, trash services, restrooms, fire rings and cement parking spaces; mostly pull-through. There are no areas for dumping, no showers and no water or electric hookups. There is moderate cell signal depending on where you park in the campground (we usually maintained 2 bars at our site).
The Meriwether Lewis Campground is surrounded by beautiful dogwood trees and walking trails galore. The site is deep off into the woods, so there are no traffic noises. The max stay duration is two weeks, dogs are allowed and there are quiet time hours; so no running your generator at night. There is a campground host present, and park rangers visit daily. The campground is overall very clean and peaceful.
Hohenwald, TN is the nearest small town that we regularly visited in our stay. They have a Tractor Supply, gas stations, some fast food joints, dollar stores, a Walmart and some local grocery stores. They also have a small local library with free Wi-Fi. The drive into town from the campground is about fifteen minutes. Everyone in town was warm and friendly. If you go by the Tractor Supply earlier in the morning, you may find someone in the parking lot selling eggs and other farm fresh treats.

I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel, long bed pickup and parked in site #1, a dry, BI site for free. The roads and sites are asphalt. Had issues with GPS – Apple Maps would have taken me into Hohanwald and the link from Campendium wanted to take me to the wrong part of the park. Once you get to the Meriwether Lewis park off the Natchez Trace turn off your GPS and just follow the signs to the campground. (coordinates at site #1 per Apple: 35.52219N, 87.45567W.) The campground road is narrow (like all older NPS parks), curvy and had trees close to some edges making the curves a little challenging. Just take it slow and swing as wide as you can. Site 1 had a little slope side to side and down to the back, but not huge. Loads of room around this site. No other sites were all that close. The picnic table and fire pit were on the driver’s side though. Lots of trees in the park but were not leafed out yet which was good for my solar panels. Every bathroom in the park was very clean, bright and in good condition. Connectivity – 1-2 bars LTE with Verizon but it was slow to get online, no streaming, no wifi, no OTA. It is only 15 minutes to Hohenwald where you can get a strong connection. Other sites that could accommodate larger rigs include: 4, 6, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, and 21. I really liked this park. I had a couple nice hikes and the picnic areas are lovely. I’d definitely stay here again.

Arrived Sunday, April 23rd. Spent 4 nights here, departing each day leaving nothing behind (easy to do in a class B). There were spots remaining each day when I got back to the campground. Lovely, quiet place. Seriously just a very relaxing place to stay. Nice trails with beautiful views. Small museum with gift store near the ML monument.
There are a couple of water spigots in the campground to fill up water bottles, wash dishes, etc. The town of Hohenwald is several miles away and has a variety of stores if supplies are needed.

There is a nice hike on the Meriwether Loop trail that follows and crosses a creek.
We got 1 to 2 bars of T-Mobile LTE, 37.2 mbps down/2.96 mbps up.
This was a very quiet a peaceful stop for us, if we didn't have other plans we would have stayed another night or two.

The Meriwether Lewis campground is located at Milepost 385.9 along the Natchez Trace Parkway near Hohenwald, TN. We loved this campground as we traveled the parkway. There are no services at each site but the asphalt roads and parking pads made for a pleasant set up. We had lot number three which was a drive through near the entrance of the campground. There is plenty of space between positions and garbage collection was nearby. They also have a bath house at the other loop which we did not us but it appeared to be well maintained. There were mostly seniors here and that led to a very quiet except for guy that decided to run his generator at 6:30am. We arrived at 4:30pm and got last spot available. Another couple came in later and lucked out with someone leaving early. They said if it would have been full they would have asked another camper in a drive thru circle if they could have shared a spot as the circle lots are lengthy. There is no charge to park here. I would recommend coming in as early as you can and simply enjoy the trees and beautiful quiet. (System wouldn't take $0 so I put in $1 - its Free!

The sites are nicely spaced, mainly pull through, and all are free. There are no hookups and no dump station so this is strictly dry camping. I highly recommend it.
