“Arrived Late. After Dark. Sites Not Marked According To Their Map. Unable To Find Host But Did Find Spot”

There are a few spots without big pecan trees for shade, but for the most part, everything is nice and shaded. Clean bathroom and showers available. The door does not lock, and there is not much for privacy while using the facilities. There is a washing machine and dryer, but we did not use it. The location is beautiful right on the river banks of the San Saba River. Less than 1/8th mile from the city park and dam. Great swimming and fishing. Bring some kayaks and go exploring or walk the dogs through the city park.

We stayed here 1 night Dec'19. Camp host directed us to a spot, the numbers do not make sense nor the site size. We did not need hookups, but the tent sites were muddy and down a steep slope. The bathrooms were dirty. Many full timers here in single wides. Nice river nearby, good shade trees. Host was pleasant.

This place gets better online reviews than I'm going to give it, but I may be a bit jaded due to arriving later than we usually prefer and the recent rains in the area that turned some places into mud. We just needed an overnight, so I'm not sure my overall rating is completely fair since we didn't have any time to walk around and really check things out more thoroughly.
We had called ahead to be sure there was room, and the lady (manager?) said there was, confirmed the price, and told us how to pay if we arrived after the little office was closed (envelopes & drop box.) She did not advise us that there was a man who would great us in a 4x4, escort us to a spot, and collect the cash. He got us into a dry pull-thru, which was helpful since the layout of the park was almost impossible to decipher. Our nose faced the side of another camper, and a different camper's nose faced our side. Weird! But we had full hook-ups, which is what we needed so we could get started on a mountain of laundry.
There was almost no cell reception (Verizon) and no OATV, but the free park wifi was screaming fast which we found surprising but welcome.
The park borders a private residence where there were two small dogs in a pen and some chickens -- the rooster did what roos do in the morning, which didn't bother us at all since we used to raise chickens, but it might bother others. The little roo was also free-ranging, so if he was a meanie, that might be alarming. The dogs only barked when the host (?) would come/go, which was negligible. We weren't bothered by any people noise at all.
We saw a Schwann's truck delivering some food to other campers. :D
I am checking the box to say we'd stay here again, although obviously, it's not a first choice. But the hookups worked well, it was quiet, and that's all we needed at the time.
