We come here every year during the elk rut. Camp spots are very primitive. No hookups, no water (except for the nearby creek, good for boiling and using) and no toilets. Bring a shovel or use your camper! Very peaceful. There is the occasional passerby on the dirt road. These sites are maintained by the forest service. Call the office to reserve your spot. Spots are free and the folks at the local office are very helpful and willing to answer any questions you may have. Sites are approx. 1/2 mile in distance apart, you definitely have that alone feeling. Hiking is plentlyful in the area. 2 trails nearby and many within driving distance. We love going to the public Elk viewing areas that are within a 10-15 mile drive from Medix Run road. If you enjoy peace, quiet and don’t mind leveling the camper a little, this place is heaven.
