“Beautiful Beyond Description - But Busy, Noisy, Dusty and full of 4 wheelers”

This is a beautiful Colorado mountain setting with a gorgeous lake full of trout. It is one of the few gems in this area of the White River National Forest. The campsite was large, private, clean and easy in and out. HOWEVER, the constant drone of motorcycles, 4 wheelers, ATV's and such buzzing the campground and surrounding areas ruined our visit. The US Forest Service and Garfield County Sheriff's office claims there is nothing they can do to police the out of control teens or younger than teens buzzing up and down the roads and in the campgrounds which is too bad.

During a lull in the Meadow Lake 500 we watched a bald eagle catch a fish out of the lake and eat it. We saw numerous deer but the rest of the wildlife of this area were hiding from the noise.

Until the US Forest Service does something to control the off-road vehicles we probably won't return to this wonderful place. If you have less hearing than I you might give it a shot but it is everything but quiet.
