Positive:
1. Level lot, mowed grass, well-maintained, and free.
2. Gasoline generator allowed except 10pm to 6am.
3. Very pretty and close to sandstone visitors center and Hinton town (10 miles) and sandstone waterfalls (20 miles).
4. Bait store for WV license and fishing guide is the first right after going underneath Rt 64 passed sandstone visitor center.
5. Portable toilets.
6. FREE (almost non-existence in USA these days considering grass is mowed and lots maintained.
7. Slow cellular service (1-2 bars for AT&T)
Negative:
1. Trains last 5 minutes long come by at 9:45pm, 1:15am, 3:15am, 5:15am and 7:15am, try to camp as far away from the railroad tracks
2. No water and no electricity.

The campground is in a beautiful setting in a big open meadow. We found that it was the only campground in the national park that had cell service and would handle an RV. And while I hate to complain about something that is free, I have to say that the trains have been annoying. I read a review somewhere that said only 2-3 trains came by a day. That has definitely not been the case. There are probably 8-10 trains/in a 24 hour period. They are loud. Yesterday one stopped by the campground and stayed there for 24 hours. The problem with that was that every few minutes it made noise like it was getting the engine ready to go again. This happened all night long, every few minutes. I had to take one of my over the counter sleeping aids.

Loved this area. Great for large RVs. Is next to rail road tracks. You do have to cross 4 tracks of railroad tracks, but was not bad. It is closed right now due to Covid. I’m hoping next time we come this way it will be open.

Looked at NPS website and it confirms this is a tent site only, no RV's although the pictures suggest you could park an RV in most of them.
