We were able to snag a last minute reservation here for the weekend... and we're glad we did. Ours was a beautiful site right on the lake. Campground is well-maintained, staff came through several times a day to empty trash and check on the restroom. Whole area appeared very clean, unlike some state parks in the area.
Amenities include a nice day-use area with good boat ramps, a swimming area, and kids playground. I didn't notice any sewer hookup sites, but from what I could tell, all sites have water and at least 30amp electricity.
Two things to note...if you have a waterfront site, the drop down is rather steep for about 300 ft, with a pretty sharp turn at the bottom. It was doable for us, but longer bumper pull and motorhomes might run into some challenge. One class A I saw had to taxi back and forth a couple times to get around that corner. Boat noise can be a factor. It's not unbearable, but if you're looking for a super-quiet wilderness experience, it may be more than you want to deal with.
All in all, a great experience. We will be back:)

Decided to take advantage of the beautiful April weather and headed out for our first camping trip of the year here. We lucked out with it being their opening weekend, the campground was maybe 50% full and FCFS, we ended up staying in the upper loop site 13. The large site could easily fit a couple of tents, still had a decent view of the lake!
Pros: Campground location is right on the lake, playground, swim area, boat launch, flush toilets, and showers. Water and electricity hookups in every site. Lower loop sites are right on the water!
Cons: No privacy between sites, expensive ($78 for two nights!), more of an RV campground than tent camping. Can hear HWY 12 at night time. During the day there was heavy machinery running VERY close to the upper loop, maybe expect construction noise this summer? No luck bank fishing.
Overall I’d recommend this campground in early spring and late fall. IMO it’s more for RV camping and boaters... Not sure I’d recommend it at all during peak season, sites are very close together! And seems day use area can get extremely busy!

This is a gorgeous campground with many of the campsites located on the shore of Mayfield Lake. The other sites are equally beautiful in the trees. All the campsites have water and electricity. There is a dump area located away from all the sites which is nice. The sites are tight but because of the ample foliage, they don't feel like they are too close. The best sites are reserved online but there were still plenty of sites when we arrived on a summer Sunday night after exploring Mt. Rainier.
The grounds are very clean and while the bathhouses are somewhat dated they are very clean. The showers are coin-operated and the attendant has change if needed.
The adjacent city park is very nice as well with a large playground for kids, a lake swimming area, and a very nice pavilion as well as a boat dock. It was busy on Monday so I can only imagine this place is probably wall to wall people on summer weekends.
