“Close to Bighole Battlefield”
We wanted to camp here for one night to allow time to visit the nearby Bighole Battlefield. (which... if you haven't been there, is one of the most important, humbling, devastating, but also beautiful National Park/Battlefields we have been to.)
We enjoyed the campground so much we stayed an extra day. It is deeply wooded, slightly marshy in some areas (mosquitos). The trees offered some shade in an otherwise pretty open part of Montana. You can access May Creek from a trail in the back of the campground.
Great forest service campground. The sites at the entrance are huge. As you get deeper into the campground there is a loop of sites available.
Bring what you need. There is little in terms of amenities in either direction. Potable water. Pack out your own trash.
Would definitely stay here again.
