It seems pretty closed off the north entrance in fenced off about a mile in and the south entrance on a road that’s closed. It says open to local traffic so I went down exploring. Finally made it to the campsite and was met with swarms of huge mosquitoes! Big ones wasn’t worth the trip sadly. Had high expectations.

The camping are is a large flat gravel area with some picnic tables, fire pits, vault toilets, water spigots and trash cans.
There are trees around the perimeter that some day will offer shade. There was one other tent camper there with his dog.
The area was clean except for some dog poop.
On the first night an employee stopped us to tell us of a mountain lion in the area. We have two small dogs so we were cautious however we didn’t see the mountain lion.
We road our bikes and walked to the ponds. We saw red wing and yellow headed black birds, white pelicans, Orioles, eared & Clark’s
Grebes, cormorants, flickers, terns and ducks.
It was very quiet with beautiful sunsets, star gazing and 360 hills and snow capped mountains.
We stayed in the area once we arrived however Yerington is close by for groceries, Diesel and DEF.
We enjoyed our stay and would come stay here again.

Tmobile signal was spotty, with speeds about 4 gig download on 4g. Town is not too far from here and has a Raleys, Family Dollar, Dollar General, a cheap and good laundromat, free rv dump at the rest area, and several really good Mexican restaurants.

Essentially a large gravel area designated for dry camping. There are some picnic table and fire rings, trash barrels and porta-potties, at least part of the year. There are nature trails, a fish hatchery open to the public, fishing ponds and hunting in season available here. Nearby Yerington offers shopping, dining, gas and supplies. Yerington also has a free dump station, or did last time we were there.
During waterfowl season, this spot is very crowded but the rest of the years it's hardly used. Mosquitoes can be a problem in the summer and fall. There are flush toilets at the fish hatchery when it's open and a free dump station in Yerington. All in all, not a bad spot to spend a few nights, especially if you're into wildlife watching or fishing.
