Overall Rating

I stopped here after driving 5 hours through rain and snow. Came in at 4 pm and stayed over night. Felt safe . had a lot of big trucks coming and going which I'm ok with. Can stay here up to 24 hours. Patrolled by state police.

Overall Rating

I would stay here again if I needed to, but it isn’t the best spot for a quiet night. There was lots of commotion and trucks coming and going all night. That said, for a rest stop it is very nice.

It is large and well lit, which is great for safety, but made sleeping a bit of a challenge for our setup.

The bathrooms are quite clean. They have shiny, beautiful floors and during the day they play “woo” music that make it feel like a spa.

We woke up in the morning to a flat tire. The staff in the visitor center very nicely allowed us to sit indoors to keep warm while we waited for AAA.

Use the Painted Cliffs Rest Area Westbound in Lupton, AZ. Painted Cliffs is accessable from both west and east bound directions of I-40
