Best surprise was that the sites are so well placed up against the sandy beach. We felt lucky to get a reservation here! We split our two-day stay between two different sites, so had to move mid-stay. That wasn’t ideal, because we had to stick around all mid-day to do that. But it was worth it because we had beautiful weather. Lake Michigan was warm and wonderful to enjoy. The day we left the wind direction switched and we were fogged in. Neighbors had said the day prior to our arrival the wind was strong and they had huge waves and spray off of the big lake.
Staff said they’re in the process of acquiring adjacent land and will be expanding over next two years!

In 7+ years of fulltime travel, this is one of my top 5 favorite campgrounds. We had site 45 backed up to the lake and it was amazing! I enjoyed sitting outside every day watching the waves and the lighthouse. Walking out to the lighthouse was really nice too. We also enjoyed a visit to Kitch-iti-kipi. The only negative is the cancellation policy. I like to book our travels up to a year in advance, but I was scared to do that here because of the non-refundable policy. This place is not cheap and that's a lot of money to lose if you have to cancel for some reason. And after all that has happened in the last couple of years, we all know that plans can change rapidly. Not to mention how plans can change when we have truck or RV problems. I can understand a cancellation fee, but not refunding the entire paid-in-full amount? That's a little much. We work remotely while traveling fulltime so internet connectivity is a must. Here are the details of our cell providers: AT&T 13.8 dl/3.20 ul, T-Mobile 73.8 dl/49.5 ul, Verizon 32.9 dl/11.9 ul.

Stayed in the Upper Peninsula Fri - Sun in late August with no reservations and got great lakefront or view sites each night, truly lucky. We will be coming back to the UP again and may just go right back to the same spots.

Sites are paved and level, all full hookups with cable and WiFi. Nice natural grounds with a decent amount of space between sites. Beach front and easy to access water. Clean and well kept. Mostly back in sites, only 4 pull thrus. $5 dump fee. $30 tent sites, $50-65 trailer sites depending on location to the water.

Concrete pads, gravel apron, grass and brush between sites made it feel roomy. Modern hookups, no issues at all. If we go back we'll pay the extra $15 for one of the lakeshore sites. They appear to be all sold out during summer months so reservations are a must.

We have stayed here a number of times. The campground is quite new, well maintained and set up for big rigs.
All the sites are larger than many modern campgrounds. Especially the lakefront sites are very private and are truly right on the lake. There is a wall of rocks in front of the campsites, so access to the lake is much easier through one of the two access paths. Since we were staying in a motorhome we pulled in forward and had a great view out of most windows of the RV. Only issue is that the hook-ups are on the wrong side then (would have been nice if the park had hook-ups on both sides) but I have enough length on my hook-us to make this work.
The sites on the North side of the campground can get some road noise and the 3 pull-through sites are not very private.
Manistique has a nice walking path and kayaks can be launched at the marina. Other destinations are a bit of a drive. We visited Fayette State Park (45min drive), mountain biked Bruno's Run (45 min drive) and kayaked Pictured Rocks (1 hour drive).

Manistique Lakeshore Campground - 320 Traders Point Dr, Manistique, MI 49854 - (906) 286-1696 - Space 47 - 80' Long
City Park - Excellent Amenities - Right on Lake Michigan. Asphalt roads. Concrete parking. At least 50' between spaces with plants and trees in between. Very windy in fall. Beach erosion evident at this time. Expensive campground but very nice park. Pedistal E/W/C. 50A electric. A few feet over is sewer. FHU's. Provided Cable has 120 channels. Close to BP Truck Stop, Verizon store, Burger King, other restaurants near by. Very quiet campground. Dump Stations (2) are very clean and orderly.
$60 a day to be on beach. $45 off beach but some locations might not be long enough. In summer, reservations a must.
Verizon - 2-3 bars. Outside of town, hit and miss.
Check In: 3 PM
Check Out: 12 Noon
We will definitely stay here again. More than likely, reservations WILL be required during the summer months.
One word of caution...The sites on the side opposite of the lake do have flooding issues. If weather is imminent, you will want a lake front (more expensive) or interior lot versus the back lots.
