“Very welcoming camp host in a Ponderosa Pine forest”

Reviewed May 03, 2018

Overall Rating

This to me is a real camping, with a lot of trees, no hookup, not too close to the neighbours. Actually, we came in at a time that we were ALONE in the Main campground, so maybe it affects my opinion. (weekdays in mid-April) T-Mobile was good, we were able to work and stream videos. The park is at 7800 ft elevation so can be co... more

“Accessible for Ballsy Big Rigs”

Reviewed Apr 23, 2018

Overall Rating

Dry camping, vault toilets, and trash disposal available. Dump station (without fresh water fill). Pulled into the last available 'big rig' walk-in only site on a Saturday evening in April. We felt pretty lucky that folks with smaller rigs kept to smaller sites, because I was not looking forward to trying to wriggle 40' of home on ... more

“Awesome 👍 This park has a very good feel to it!”

Reviewed Aug 01, 2017

Overall Rating

We stayed for 8 nights and loved this place! This was probably the cleanest CG we stayed at in our 8 weeks of travel. The hosts do a fabulous job and are super friendly and helpful. The lake is very pretty and peaceful with nice hiking and MTB trails and lots of nice little picnic areas. There is a group shelter near the entrance and... more

“Beautiful State Park Camping”

Reviewed May 12, 2017

Overall Rating

The other reviewers have done a great job describing the area (thank you), hence the reason we came here! I'll just add a little about our experience... Beautiful beautiful area!! Quiet, wildlife, and pristine water views! We camped in the West Campground. The dirt roads are very well maintained. The vault restrooms were clean. ... more

“Best campground in the region, especially in winter.”

Reviewed Sep 14, 2016

Overall Rating

Driving the maintained county dirt road to the campground was no problem, even in the snow - they keep it plowed. This is the only campground open in the region in the winter and one loop with some of the larger campsites are kept plowed. It's dry camping only with generator hours 6am-10pm, but the freeze-proof threaded water spicket c... more

“A nice, clean, quiet, small campground on a nice dirt road between Cortez and Durango.”

Reviewed May 04, 2016

Overall Rating

Dirt road is very drivable in rain or light snow even with our 40' 5er. Great Verizon and ATT. Nice location to do Canyons of the Ancients, Hovenweep and Mesa Verde. No water or electric at campsites, but there is water in each loop that you could hook up to if CG not crowded (as you'd be blocking road or handicap site to use). Nic... more
