Manatee Hammock Campground

We are here now. Really tight sights. We were lucky enough to get one right next to the road. We will definitely need earplugs tonight. We picked this campground for the location close to Cape Canaveral. I’m guessing it must be really reasonable by the month because there are a lot of long term people here. Everyone seems nice. Tight turn to get into our sight #120 mostly due to parked cars around. Site is long enough for sure 35 ft fifth wheel. I would recommend staying somewhere else.

This campground is on the expensive side for a publicly-owned facility. We arrived after dark. The online reservation information said checkin 2-9pm. The office was closed as we arrived just after 8pm, and the rules and map flyer said the hours are 2-8pm. That was the first clue. The map provided had no labeling other than site numbers. The signage for the different camp roads had names, not site numbers, and those names were not on the map. When asked the next morning, the staff said, “oh, we just put up the street names, and we’re using up old maps.” The site numbers are only on the electrical hookup boxes, but since the campground was full, you couldn’t see any of those boxes from the camp roads. We drove around for a while to find our site. The site was tiny side to side. It was sufficiently long for our class B, but otherwise quite cramped next to a large 5th wheel. We checked out the bath house, and there were signs that there was no hot water in the close one, so use the other. The other bath house also said there was no hot water. We asked at the office, and their response was, “oh, our propane supplier didn’t come fill.” Well, maybe they could actually monitor the levels themselves? Does the county government really have no ability to work with a propane supplier? We won’t return to this park, nor to any of the Brevard County parks given the sub-par facilities and disinterested staff.

We’d give this place 5 stars if not for the fact that they require a 2 night stay. We came in on the second night of our 2 night stay to find our site was still ours. Normally I abandon the second night if we find a place we like but they require more than one night. This was an oversight on my part but there were still cool.

Sandy sites. Not very private. Grab a corner for people watching and privacy on one side.

Amenities include a tennis court, shuffleboard, and the ability to watch NASA launches from the dock (5 miles away with a plain view of the launch pad).

We stayed here while taking a cruise out of Port Canaveral. Most sites are close together. Check-in requires you to park and go into the office. Front gate gets closed at night but you can open it by hand. Park is pretty tight, although there are some 40 foot trailers and Class A RVs here. There is a lot of road noise on the sites near the highway, and an occasional train with whistle nearby.

Campsite surface is hard packed dirt and grass, it can get muddy after a rain. Electric and water pedestal is older but worked properly. Sewer hookups have a threaded PVC pipe straight out of the ground. Decent showers and laundry room. Pool area looks nice and well kept.

There is a nice park with a fenced dog area and a fishing pier on site. Lots of restaurants and grocery stores close by.

AT&T cell service is good, 4-5 bars of 5G (RSRP is -100 unboosted). About 25 HDTV channels came in.

This is our second trip to Manatee Hammock Campground.
The first time we sought a place near the coast so we might put our toes in the Atlantic Ocean. Cocoa Beach is 34 minutes south east.
We returned because of the spacious sites that are separated from one another by natural greenery and is very quiet (~40 dBA, similar to a quiet living room in the middle of the park, near US 1 ~45 dBA).

Aperiodically a train rumbles past along the other side of US 1, but it is not disturbingly loud.
Shopping is readily available in Titusville and Port St John (Publix ~4 minutes south).

I booked a couple of nights, thinking it would be fun for our little girls while school was on holiday. It's not a bad campground, but it's not really family camping. It's a convenient place with full HU for longer-term campers, snowbirds, etc. The sites are tight and got very muddy after a rain. The dock is nice. It's surely great to be there if there happens to be a launch. But the highway noise, train noise, cramped sites and overall "Lived In" feel make it not for folks with children. The "Recreation Hall" was literally a big, empty room with a bookshelf in it. I wish I'd taken a picture of it. The pool has recently been updated and looked clean, although small. We couldn't swim because of the rain. This looks like a good place for adult travelers with dogs who want full HU and don't mind being near a highway. We left after one night because there's really not much for kids to do if the weather's bad. The whole field/play area became muddy.

Some sites are tighter than others. We had to make some tight backing turns around trees to get our 33ft travel trailer in place. Next time I’d book saying I had a 35 or 38 ft trailer

You can watch launches from the park but unfortunately they kept delaying and we couldn’t extend our stay

Watch where you step. A lot of bad dog owners not picking up after dogs.

Near railroad if you are a light sleeper but for then money you can’t beat it

I need to add my voice about the discriminating attitude here. I made a 3 night reservation here, booking online. I picked a spot with shade. Because my vehicle was small, they decided to move me to another site that had no shade, was close to a ravine and was marshy. Then when I arrived, I was told that my DIY converted van was not an RV and I could NOT sleep in my vehicle. His attitude was uncooperative, surly and obnoxious. On the bright side, I was given a full refund. But after this rude treatment and terrible attitude, I would never attempt to stay here again.,
