There are a number of Hiking Trails ranging from Easy to Strenuous. The harder the trail the higher rewards in vistas overlooking the Hudson Valley. The CCC Road is a gentle climb through the park, where you can marvel at the Stone Masons Skills keeping this road in perfect shape 90 years later.
If you want to go Off-Grid this is the place, as there is NO Cell Service in the park. You will need to drive into town about 15-Minutes away to connect to anything. Off-Air TV is out, but there are a few radio stations that come in.

Instead of being in a close knit row like most campgrounds, here, the sites are laid out in smaller loops off of the main camp road. Because of this, there is some good privacy and a feeling of seclusion. Additionally, the park offers exceptional hiking (specifically the Macedonia Ridge Trail) and some cool CCC-era facilities. That being said, like all of Connecticut’s state parks, there is room for some development and maintaince. Nonetheless, this is a campground worth a stay.

Getting into the area could be a little challenge, the entry road is long and narrow. People were courteous and made way for our 25ft RV & truck. In this area there are no pads specifically for an RV. So there is a little challenge on getting things where you want it and making things level, but not something that can't be over come.
Once settled in the area has a number of things to do, first off is Hiking, everything from an easy walk to "I should have brought my repelling gear!" But once you have met some of the terrain challenges, the rewards are worth the effort, with great views of the Hudson Valley and surrounding areas.
For those looking for solitude, this could be the place in Connecticut, no road traffic (except that on the camp road & the occasional overflight of small aircraft), ABSOLUTELY NO CELL SERVICE! and in our case few neighbors.
One word of caution, it seems the CT Park system was founded by Carrie Nations, so leave the Adult Beverages at home, or else you will be told to leave.
Enjoy this Gem.
