To echo Everlong Journey - the lake is beautiful. We had hoped to camp at MacDonald but it was full (as was Strawberry) before noon on Saturday. I am not sure if that was because it was the Canada Day weekend or if it is on every weekend. When we drove through, the sites looked very nice - not overly long but pretty good privacy. We were very disappointed as we were hoping to stop there on our journey up the Alaska Highway.
Fortunately, we met a Ranger who said that we could camp at the Muncho Lake Viewpoint up the road. (She had just put two campers in the overflow area at MacDonald). There was a spot in the trees that we were able to back into - it could easily have accommodated another motorhome. We had a beautiful view of the lake and were able to explore as we wanted. We paid her, and received a slip to put in the window of our rig. In the morning, there was another camper parked in the parking lot.
Cars stopped stopping after about 9 at night and it was pretty quiet.

This campground is absolutely gorgeous! All of the sites back the lake and the sites are fairly level. There is some privacy between sites and did I tell you that the lake is absolutely gorgeous. There is pit toilets, and a hand pump water spigot but it said it needed to be boiled before consumption. We would have stayed longer, but we were running out of fresh water. In late May the campground filled up by late evening.
