“Amazing vistas, super rough drive in”

We drove past Loy Butte area thinking we weren't there yet. Unfortunately once you get to a certain point there are no turn arounds. A local informed us of this before we went too far off track, but we still had to back up the trailer about a mile before we could turn around. Once we turned around I found a site that's perfect for a tr... more

Monsoons are amazing from this area. It rained a lil bit during our stay, mosquitoes were a nuisance this time but the views made up for that.

I would recommend this site to anyone. Any size rig can get back in here. You are close to Cottonwood where there is a good free dump station at the Giant Gas Station they also have water. A little tight for motorhome pulling a car so we left car at camp. Lots to see and do around Sedona and of course each morning you get to watch t... more

We stayed next to Life Rebooted - great review! - and agree with all the positives they detailed. The views are amazing. The access to hiking is awesome. We came the week before Easter and it was very crowded. Pink Jeeps and ATVs everywhere. We enjoyed Palatki Heritage Site and filled a water jug at the parking lot. Really good... more

“Great National Forest Boondocking with amazing views”

We spent the 14 day max at this site located between Sedona and Cottonwood. Their is 2 ways to get into the area, one is a 5 mile trek down a bumpy/rocky gravel road. On a rainy day, this road would be difficult. The other is a backpay from sedona, you end up only going down about 2 miles of gravel. If you come the sedona way, turn dow... more

We unhooked our tow car at the big lot on the left side of Loy Butte Rd. shortly after the pavement ends, and scouted ahead with the car. We ended up choosing a wonderful site about 4.5 miles up the road at 34.875804,-111.905220. There was only one other rig there at the time, though when we left a week later there were 4 motorhomes, a... more

“Epic Camping Near Sedona”

Reviewed Feb 24, 2017

This boondocking spot is amazing. In our four nights in town, we accessed the site from both directions (Dry Camp Road and 89A) and though both were passable by any rig, you are on more pavement from Dry Camp Road. It's also the closest to Sedona itself. I stayed near The Scenic Route's coordinates. That exact spot was taken, but I... more

“Beautiful Red Rock views”

Reviewed May 14, 2016

We stayed in a larger site on the east side of Loy Butte Road (FR525). Being somewhat familiar with the area, we came in from Dry Creek Road in Sedona because we knew we wanted to be at the North end of the road. Either way is going to require several miles (4 - 6) of rough road -- gravel, dirt, & rocks with several washboard areas a... more
