Lower Ute Trail Dispersed Campsites

Ute Trail Road is located near a large mountain bike trail system with well maintained trails. These campsites are idea for hitting the trails early and riding long into the evening.

The main access road is well groomed. There were a few places of washboard, but nothing that would slow one down from normal side-street speeds. The road in general is a generous 2 lanes with some narrowing on the turns. It winds up a canyon, but most rigs should be able to navigate the road with ease. No special clearance or 4X4 was required.

The sites themselves are very close to the road, so there isn't any privacy. Signage in the area denotes very clearly that no campfires are to be made. Ute creek runs in the center of the canyon so care may be needed in times of heavy rain or spring runoff. It is a main road for recreation in the National Forest so traffic on the road can be heavy at times.

Verizon coverage was spotty in the area due to the canyon walls. I received 1 to 2 bars of Verizon 3G in the area, but some portions of the canyon did not have service.
