“Hidden gem in the off-season ”

We arrived after dark and only stayed one night in our 26ft travel trailer but woke to the most beautiful quite spot! Yes there are occasional trains as there is a train trestle above your head lol otherwise it’s just the breeze through the pines. The campground peninsula is for tents only and does have a permanently closed gate so we parked in the large pull off parking area. No one was there I’m assuming because it is still off season and mid week. Below the campground peninsula is a paved road that runs into the reservoir so when the water is low as it was when we were there there are tons of parking for big rigs. Just before you get here on the left there is the Salt Creek Resort with full hookups if you prefer but at 55 bucks a night we declined. We had 3 bars Verizon LTE in the parking lot but as we drove in it varied with no cell in the reservoir on the paved road.

We did a trash sweep of the lot due to previous people but otherwise the place was clean.

Nice spot but know that it is for tents only. You must park your car near the port-a-potties and then carry things to a spot. The spots are nice and not far away from the car park. It’s quiet enough and for the area it’s one of the few places to camp.
