Overall Rating

Stayed in the lower loop 4 days. If you want on the coast during the summer your choices are limited so this is what we found available. We have a 30ft travel trailer and getting into the site was a challenge. Seems like the lower loop is for smaller RVs or tents. We got it in, but not much room. Tons of mosquitoes. There’s NO water in the campground with the exception of one spigot in the upper campground at the office. There’s also NO dump station, so you will need to drive 26 miles south to the tow dump station, which is free.

The river in the park is amazing and there’s a lot of hiking and sightseeing to do. Drive up the coast to Grand Portage and there are a lot of hiking trails. There are showers and bathrooms in the upper campground that look great but it is a walk from the lower park.

We have ATT and Verizon and a booster. Internet was not that great. Was able to do virtual meetings but it was a challenge and the video was choppy. The entire ride north up the shore is no internet at all.

Overall Rating

Stayed in site 41 in lower campground and it had an amazing view of Lake Superior! Quiet except a little noise from the highway. Area was clean and the site had a fire ring and picnic table. Great hiking trails are right there along with the many falls. The upper campground had a new bathroom/shower building that we used. It was easy to get to and was a wonderful facility 😊. Definitely want to come back here!
