Would it be safe enough here to leave tents up and go out for day trips to the canyon?

Are there any interesting day hikes (5 - 15 miles) in this area? Are there any water sources where dogs could cool off?

From Hwy 160, I drove north on Lovell Canyon Road and turned right into the dirt road at Forest Road 537F/Rainbow Springs Road. There are several camping sites that are spurs off the dirt road. I found one that was a pull around/pull through. I made it with my 23' travel trailer but it would be harder to make the turn in a larger rig. I didn't have any problem towing as long as I stayed on the dirt road and/or camping spur. If you get off the regularly driven area, the surrounding desert is very soft and you might get stuck.
There was minimal traffic on the dirt road (just a couple of other vans/campers looking for a site) and the sites are spread out enough that I had tons of privacy.
The weather was perfect with highs in the 70s and lows in the high 40s. I got great solar power (8 amps/hr) from my portable solar panels.
There wasn't any hardly any trash at my site but I did pick up whatever I could find so as to leave it better than I found it.
I had great Verizon coverage which allowed me to work remotely.
Overall, a great place to spend a couple of peaceful days resting.

It was quiet and calm.
Most of the outdoor activity in the immediate area is just OHV trails, but there are a few hikes, and we were able to ride our MTB.
Rock fire pits are around, and there is some trash, but nothing horrible.
The road is fairly well maintained. Decent turn around at the end for trailers if you need it.
This is a heavily used area, and they say to only camp in the numbered sites, but people are everywhere. Just watch out for flash flood warnings as multiple washes are located in the canyon.
We came in at 5pm on a Friday night and we’re able to snag one of the 2 open spots (I’m calling a “spot” anything with a well used fire pit.)

AT&T cell service was excellent for both voice & data. Data speeds for me were 40mbps down and 10mbps up.
My site was dirty. Some idiot left behind trash. I was able to remove some of it but a couple things were too large for me to take and dispose of. Please observe the “Pack It In, Pack It Out” rules.

Good cell reception with TMobile.

There are lots of sites along the road, and you can tuck back into the trees for privacy. We stayed in the same spot both visits--a couple of miles up the road. Beautiful mountain view as you look up the road. Some traffic both day and evening—we assume people coming/going to Red Rock Canyon. Our site was pretty clean but walking around we saw others that weren’t left as clean. Enjoyed hiking up the road and out in the sagebrush/pinyon.

Stayed for two nights while climbing in Red Rock Canyon. Plenty of sites along the road that had a lot of privacy. Really enjoyed this spot!

We were in a pop-up camper behind a Land Cruiser and took a spot at 36.08178, -115.55891 The overhead powerline started to make nose around 6AM. It sounded like a generator at a campground. So, our exact spot may not be the best one there but the overall area was great.

Loved my spot just off the road before the dip into the canyon. The overlook of the desert below had Amazon sunsets. Minimal traffic but high winds in January-February had the trailer a rocking! The further away from the Hwy the less cell reception.

We had a 25 ft class C and didn’t realize as you pull off the main road, we could immediately find a site to camp at. Found some with fire pits. Grilled out one night. Husband hiked nearby while I worked during the day with AT&T WiFi. Some traffic driving by during the day. Feel lucky to find this place outside the city. We had rental car and drove to Red Rock Canyon one evening.

Wish people would clean up after themselves. And most stores are very close to the road which creates noise and dust. Other than that it was a great little site which sits high with views both east and west. The stars are visible even though the Vegas glow can be seen. T-Mobile and Verizon don't work out here. After camping here we hiked Little Zion which is accessed from a dirt road off of Lovell Canyon Rd. We'd definitely camp here again.
