We love to stay in small town parks and it is a bonus when they offer free water and dump station! We asked at the visitor center about the "closed' sign posted at the park and were told that the sign was for the bathrooms, which have been closed because of Covid19. Our stay was quiet and uneventful.

... folks seem to be cheerfully ignoring the “Closed” sign. Dump station easily accessible. Doubt anyone would bother you if you stayed here anyway, but I chose to move on to dispersed.

Visit Bighorn Canton NRA and look for wild mustangs & Bighorn sheep in addition to Horseshoe Bend overlook.

Looking for a spot to pull over for the night. Ended up spending 3 nights! Sign says closed, but people camped every night or pulled through to use the dump. Bathrooms were closed. Fresh water faucets excellent. Small playground. Next to the town’s ball field. Large pull through sites, but also smaller sites for small campers or tents. Most with grills and picnic tables. Information board had some suggestions of things to see, so we stayed for the max of 3 nights. Day tripped into Bighorn National Forest to Medicine Wheel Historic site near the top of Bald Mountain. Awesome hike and views! 10% grade for several miles on the drive up and back, so glad we left the camper in town. Next day, drove into Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area for the views and a hike. Many people boating in the canyon. Forest and park campgrounds were full over the weekend, so glad we had a free spot in town and in the shade with good cellular (so better?). Grocery store, gas station, car/RV wash in town. Quiet at night, train nearby a few times a day. We left a $10 per night donation.

Smallish campground but parking and drive thru lanes well planned. Clean, well maintained. Has closed sign referring to bathhouse facility. Camping still permitted.

Picnic tables and grills at each site. Potable and non potable water clear marked.

This place has everything going for it… It’s in a quiet little Wyoming town… It has great amenities as far as clean showers, potable water and, an RV dump… oh and did I mention that it’s FREE!!!! But the downside is, the people that pull up in their big motorhomes that leave their generators on all day and all night and never leave their motorhome… Why ever leave your home from wherever you’re from then? This is a very small campground and the need to be courteous to your neighbors is quite apparent. There seem to be a few people actually living in this campground and they are very courteous and turn their generators off so others can sleep. But next to me was a big motorhome that pulled in close, the shades closed and, turned the generator on and never turned it off....all night… They didn’t come out once… I hope they leave tomorrow because I’m here for the next two nights for work and I don’t want to see them or hear them. The moral to the story is...just be courteous when you’re in the small campgrounds… If you can’t be courteous and turn your generator off then go somewhere where you can dry camp with nobody around you because we all want to sleep… It’s not all about you. Otherwise, this is a fabulous place and I thank the town of Lovell for offering this. Besides that… I found a great laundromat in town and went to the library that has very good Wi-Fi and updated all of my computer back ups and iPhone apps… Despite the noisy travelers !!!!
