Pros: quiet, good sites, pretty level, lots of showers, close-ish to Biscayne and Flamingo visitors center of Everglades. Heard owls!
Cons: The mosquitoes weren’t bad in late November — but they’re definitely present. I’d never come in the summer. Showers: there are quite a few. Solar powered. We took in late afternoon and had plenty of hot water (campground not full at all). The showers themselves are a single spray. A little lame (but enough to remove shampoo)
Water needed to be boiled when we were here. Boo! (E coli)

The site they gave us was tiny! I don’t see how it was even 38’ because it barely fit our trailer without the truck. We drove around and finally found a spot we could fit the trailer and the with a weird diagonal parking job could get our truck in with only one tire on the grass. Which is supposed to be a big no no, but no one ever told us to move the truck. I never saw a park host outside of the entry gate. One section was blocked off, so maybe there are bigger sites there, but if you have a long rig I wouldn’t come here.
The bathrooms were clean, as well as the showers. My water was cold, but it was so stinking hot and humid that I liked it that way! The campground was very clean with nice vegetation between sites for privacy.

Long Pine Key and Flamingo are the two RV campgrounds within Everglades National Park. Long Pine Key does not have electric hookups (Flamingo does) but otherwise I much preferred it to Flamingo. Like Flamingo, it does show some of the neglect by the concessionaire. The only potable water available is at the dump station. All of the faucets and drinking fountains at the bathhouses have been turned off and many are damaged. Otherwise, the campground is nicely set into a sparsely forested pineland. The trees are sparse enough that we had no problem pulling in sufficient solar energy to keep the batteries fully charged in February. The campsites are separated by underbrush and are well-screened for the most part. However they are close enough together that you will hear your neighbors and occasionally generators. The campsites consist of an asphalt camping pad, fire ring, and picnic table. The remainder of the site is mowed grass. Be honest about the length of your rig when making a reservation. They are all fairly short and do not have excess room. Also some of the campsites have the fire rings and tables on the wrong side of the camping pad (from a trailer perspective). No worries, you are welcome to park on the grass according to the camp hosts, so you can arrange your rig in whatever manner suits you. I do think the campsites are close to the road rather than set back off the campground road. On the positive side this does mean they are wide and suitable for multiple trailer positions. But it puts you right against the (light) traffic from other campers.
There are a number of activities to keep you busy around the campground. There is a small lake with a trail around it and fishing available. There are several other trails in the campground area including one that allows bikes on it. There is an amphitheater where a ranger presented programs on Fri, Sat, and Sun nights.
Verizon signal is fine. With a booster we were able to squeak a little bit of AT&T service, but it wasn't much.

The shower house has solar showers which felt great after a long day of exploring.
This was our first time out with new solar panel set up. We enjoyed the tranquility the campground offered and the great location within Everglades National Park to explore! It truly is a place to unplug and be present.
For a 'no hookups' off the grid campground I give it 5 stars.

This campground is a cool spot if your goal is to spend most of your time exploring the Everglades or to use it as a launch spot to visit the Keys. We didn't feel it was worth the price. Pros: it's in the Everglades and not far from the Keys. The sites have vegetation surrounding them so it gives you a little bit of privacy and the birds that hang out in them are fun to watch and hear. They also have a dump station and potable water. Cons: no hook ups, the sites are kind of close together and very short (if you have a big rig, make sure you choose a spot that is at least a foot larger than your rig or else you'll be hanging in the road). The showers were never warm for us and the bathrooms were pretty dirty. Someone cleaned them but it was only a matter of time before they were destroyed again... :P Our site had more dirt than grass it seemed, which made for very dirty rugs and floor. They sell firewood for $9, which is nice, but it burned very poorly. And of course the humidity and mosquitos were just awful. It just wasn't our style. We ended up leaving a day early because we were ready to be done with the place lol. I'd also like to add: we visited Flamingo and were initially bummed we couldn't camp there (they have hook ups), but they have 0 Verizon cell service and it's an hour and a half drive to the nearest store. We preferred LPK over Flamingo in the end! Thus, won't be back to either. It was nice to visit the Everglades, though.

Gorgeous place! Serene and lovely. Spacious, private campsites along the road (tighter together in the inner-loops). Nice amphitheater with educational talks around 7:30 p.m. about survival in the Everglades, and education various wildlife. The itinerary is posted on the board at the sidewalk entrance to the amphitheater. There’s a foot trail around the small lake near the amphitheater. Absolutely stunning views and birds at sunrise and sunset on the lake. Very quite and peaceful.
Some dogs off leash made it stressful for those of us abiding by the leash rule, but other than that, there were no issues. 2 separate incidents when an off-leash dog aggressively approached us and our dog, and the owner was close by to intervene, but not before their dog reached us. I had to get between their dog and mine and yell “No! Go away, get outta here!” and wave my arms to scare it off.
Big, loud family of about 12 people playing ball in the street and dozens more congregating along the road between several campsites on first Saturday night here, but the crowds dissipated by 9 p.m. and things were quiet. This lasted only one or two nights, then it was quiet the rest of the time here.
Enforced generator curfew. Staff will loudly bang on your door like the police startling you at 8:02 p.m. if you get tied up doing something in the rig (like talking on the phone or washing dinner dishes) a minute past 8, and forget to shut your generator off promptly. They give you a friendly reminder to shut it down, and it’s prudent to promptly heed the warning and turn off the generator.
Full bars with Verizon the whole time. Worked online during the day and made phone calls without a single issue or interruption in service (except when a mile out from Flamingo campground to see other amenities).
Beautiful scenery and quiet trails. Saw lots of birds. Drive down to the beach near Flamingo and saw more beautiful birds. purple Gallinu, Roseated Spoonbill, Great White Heron, Blue Heron, Osprey, and Limpkin.
Free entrance (regularly $30) into the National Park with the annual National Park Pass we purchased in advance. Camping Discount for having National Park Pass. I believe it was either 21 or 22.50/night for a total of $168.56 for 7 nights. Not bad. Firewood and ice available at the entrance/ranger station (chevron kiosk), $4 for 10# bag of ice and $8.50 for decent sized bundle of wood (lasts one night). Bought one bundle the the both Flamingo (an hour away) and Long Pine were out for the nest 2 weeks (ordering issue). Cheaper bundles available at roadside store before getting to the National park.
Overall this has been a great first experience visiting the park, campground, and the Everglades.
It’s soo beautiful here and peaceful, we don’t want to leave. We’ll be back soon!!

I mean, it's pretty crowded even during the winter. Campgrounds are close to each other. Restrooms work, clean campsites. Can't say it's worth $25, but not the worst place I've stayed in Florida.
