We arrived around 4 pm. There was a mix of tents and RVs. We easily found a pull through spot that was relatively level and set up. It was very windy while we were the and it snowed. But it was a great place to boondock. We would stay there again!

We had to cancel our reservations due to cold (overnight freezing temps) weather at Trailer Village in Grand Canyon and arrived a week later to accommodate our friend's TT. We tried to get two sites a week later at Mather and Trailer Village, they were all booked up.
When I was doing some research for our trip. I remembered about Long Jim Loop, and we took a chance. We were really surprised to the availability and how close the park entrance was.
The sites are easy to access, and we had to level the rig which was not a big issue. The only issue was you had to watch out for water in puddles with deep mud ruts once you got off the main road. You just need to be careful and take your time to navigate. This should not be an issue during the drier seasons.
I wished our schedule allowed us to stay long then 1 night. I would defiantly recommend staying we felt safe there was some traffic on the gravel road but did not disturb our sleep.

We felt comfortable leaving our trailer while visiting the park. The days were nice, but nights were very cold. We had one day of high winds and the trees swaying made me nervous. Beside that it was perfect! We saw wild horses and elk almost everyday. Also, the local fire department drive through here regularly and the sheriff drove through once over the weekend I’m assuming to check things out since they didn’t stop. FYI, the road in is a bit bumpy, but just take it slow.

Great spot 1 mile from the entrance station, we stayed at the first spot where the forest info sign was. It was a nice stay, no complaints, just be careful coming in as the dip at that site can make it easy to bottom out on big rigs. There were many sites along the loop that can accommodate all sizes.

We parked our 30' trailer here for 9 days and went into the park every day. The number of spaces available here varied substantially as the country dried out. We had a great spot but there were not many available when we first pulled in. The road is good gravel with a few potholes and it loops back around to the highway so you don't have to worry about finding a place to turn around. But once you get off the gravel road it is snot-slick clay when wet.
It looked mostly like a spot folks would stay for a night and then go into the park. We saw motor coaches and people staying in their cars. There were a few of us staying longer but not many. It was cold while we were there the third week in March. It snowed a little one night. We never worried about leaving the trailer all day and we once left it all night as well when we stayed down on the Colorado river one night. We saw a police car drive by a couple times.
The constant tour helicopters were an annoyance but we were always gone during the day and they don't fly at night. We rely on solar and this place was well shaded so we had to run the generator a lot. The park is a madhouse. We were there during Arizona spring break and the 2 lane line to get into the park sometimes stretched to the middle of Tusayan, almost 2 miles. You had to schedule entering and leaving the park to avoid traffic. There is a paved bike trail all the way from Tusayan to the park and good biking through the park as well. Tusayan is an easy walk or ride from Long Jim.
We went out one of the other dispersed camping roads heading east from the south side of Tusayan. We liked that better because each site was more remote from other sites, but the road was a little rougher and cell service was absent along some parts of the road.
We had reservations for a few nights at Mather campground but after seeing how tight it was we decided to not risk taking a 30 ft trailer in there. A 25 ft trailer would have been much more suitable. The trailer camping was $75/night in the park and we didn't want to spend that.
We would stay here again.

After making good use of the 4WD in our Suburban, we found a small flat spot in the middle of a hilly section and setup camp. Although it seemed quite remote, we were only about 5 minutes away from the Grand Canyon entrance to the North and the town of Tusayan to the South. During the day the temps got into the low 50's, but at night it got down to 8 degrees both nights we were there. It was really something to hear all the different sounds of wildlife during the evenings. We would definitely go there again.

The road is frequently patrolled by the sheriffs department, which is appreciated, but didn’t feel unsafe.
Camp is very peaceful, no noise, and great for dogs. There’s a trail, partly paved that runs along the perimeter. Lots of established fire pits and large logs for seating.
Verizon cell and data signal was 2-3 bars, but no at&t at our spot. If we drove up to the entrance there was 1-2 bars but spotty.

Very nice dispersed campground. A little road noise during the day but not noticeable to us. Nice bike path from campground into the Grand Canyon Park. Cool in the evening, down in to the 30's but warmed up nicely during the day. Had wild horses in our campsite the first night, so awesome.
