I reserved my spot via the MO State Parks website and looked at the map thought I picked a decent spot near the water. I chose the state park due to its location near some property I was taking my kids to for youth deer season. I should have scouted out spots and not depend on photos. Site 29 was the worst spot in the entire campground. I tried to set up and could not level the camper because of slope & drop. We pulled out and went to a different vacant spot. I leveled and disconnected the camper. I found out that they lock the electrical boxes and there was no camp host or ranger to unlock them after hours or on weekends. Luckily there was a family campsite next to ours that had two electric pedestals and the campers there allowed me to plug in and run an extension cord. So long story short we made it work and everything turned out okay, just be sure of quality of camp site don't trust the website and word of warning there were several campsites that would have been a bad choice. Also, if you are looking for a quiet weekend don't choose the last weekend of October. It was the opening weekend of duck season in the North Zone of Missouri and this state park is open for waterfowl hunting. You will wake up at 7 a.m. to gun fire from the lake. I'm a hunter so it didn't bother me, but if you didn't know, it would be annoying. Side note they have Wi-Fi access, and it is actually pretty good.

We stayed for 2-nights at site 41 which is a newer section. Site was electric only with 50, 30 and 20 amp service. Park Wi-Fi is excellent fiber service. Our speed was 50 Mbps up and down. They have a lake, beach and marina close by and many trails in various areas around the lake.

Many sites in the 40s, 60s 70s and 80s are 50 amp.
Power only, with a few water hydrants dispersed through the campground. A dump station is provided. We never use the showers or bathrooms so cannot comment on those.
This park like most MO parks we have stayed in have great spacing between sites.
We stayed in 78 near the lake and had a great view.
The campground host offered excellent service. Probably the best we have had.
On highway 36, it is a great way to avoid I-70. There is some road noise from MO36.
We stayed here for business in the area.
ATT was 38.3 down and 14.0
up
Verizon was 37.9 down and 5.72 up.
Park WIFI was very good with antenna near site 78.

I was a little disappointed with the quality of the sites. The newer 30 amp sites, just as you enter the campground are on nice long, level, concrete pads but they’re in full sun. The shaded area, have broken asphalt and seriously unlevel and many of them pretty short. A good number of them are designated family sites and have two pads, two pedestals. Not many adequate choices for a single unit, 30 amp unless you have lots of leveling gear. I did not check out the 50 amp section. I was there on a Sunday night and the site had a fair amount of trash scattered around it. The big plus was they had wifi.

Back again and grateful for an experience similar to last time. Amazing camp host, clean bathrooms/shower, well cared for grounds, exceptional views, great hiking and access to the lake. We stayed in both an electric site and a non-electric site...couldn’t leave. This is a gem of a place to stay in MO.

Wonderful host, beautiful lake, spacious pad, great swimming beach (too cold fior swimming), very nice bathroom and hot showers. Ice and firewood available. The asphalt pads need repair/replacing but the cements ones are level, wide, and long enough for bigger RVs.

Disney in Missouri?
We cautiously make our way further North in the Spring of 2022 from Southern Missouri to snowless but blustery Northern Missouri. There we check out the “hometown” of Walt Disney and his family. Yes...
