Lone Rock Beach Primitive Camping Area

We paid for four nights here, but only ended up staying for 1 as it seemed the wind was going to blow our MH over (with no refund). Sand was everywhere in our rig just from opening the door a few times. It was impossible to have the windows open and you were treated to a sandblasting when you did venture outside. We were told it was exceptionally windy (over 60km/hour sustained winds all night), but that it is frequently windy there. Other than that, it was a lovely place with easy access and lots of options for where to park. Pit toilets are plentiful along the ridge above the beach, but some of them were locked and the ones that were open were a little fragrant. Lots of folks racing up and down the beach in ATVs or homemade dune buggies - quite noisy at times. We would stay again if the weather was better, but would only pay for a night at a time if we returned.

We have stayed here before and is one of our go to spots on our way to southern Arizona from Canada. $7 is the senior rate and very reasonable. Access can be tricky due to pockets of deep sand. Saw many people getting stuck, four wheel drive highly recommended. The road straight ahead passed the washrooms and garbage containers is the best.
Lovely spot to camp, views are wonderful. When we were there the water was as ways away from the place where most people camp, but I understand that can vary.

We just spent two weeks here and I couldn’t love it more. I’ll definitely be back. A couple items of note: You need a national park pass or some sort of pass to get into the park. The entrance isn’t always manned but when it is you will need it. They are pretty lax as to the rules here compared to what’s on the web. The cost is 14 bucks per night, but we have one camper van and one jeep pulling a small camper and they did not charge us for both, it was 14 for our group. You can stay longer than 14 days with no issue. And lastly, the outdoor showers (and the bathrooms near there) do no work and probably won’t for some time. The well is dry/pump broken and they are waiting for government funding, so I would say likely to be closed for several years. There are outhouses dotting the beach though. I highly recommend!

We arrived on a Monday around 11:00 am. Got a nice spot down on the ledge of the beach (not right by the water). By the afternoon it was packed. This place is awesome. The kayaking is so fun. We stayed 3 days, pulled out to dump at the pilot right across the AZ line and came back for 3 more days. Out 1st 3 days were free as the fee machine was out of service and there were no park rangers. Out next 3 days cost us $21 with our discount from our park pass. It did get windy a couple days but I’ll still stay here again

In 2018 we were too nervous to pull down toward the beach area. This year after reading many reviews we decided to pull down to just above the sand on very secure and hard packed stone/sand plateau above the sandy beach. We spent 3 nights there, with intermittent storms complete with a free lightening show across Lake Powell. This seems to be a very safe and secure location for $7/night (senior discount pass)

We stayed 2 nights as we made our way from the Grand Canyon to Zion. This is a very nice, relaxed place to stay and the water access is refreshing. Be sure to stay on the hard-pack road down to the beach area (pass the restroom/bathhouse and take the lower of the two gravel roads. Do not take the left into sand!) there is plenty of room to set up in hard ground at the top of the sandy dune. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. We did take the wrong turn and a nice Samaritan, Dusty (thank you, Dusty) pulled us out. Be sure to visit Page (great brewery and Tapatio restaurant), Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend Park! There is a dump station but not potable water. It can be a bit noisy with off-roaders.
