“Free, not far from town (Logan, UT), mountain views”
Reviewed Aug 24, 2015
Pros: free, mountain views, running river, start of several trail options, close to town
Cons: sometimes it's trashy (see a disposed of couch in one photo), fire pits can be garbage cans, can hear highway traffic
This free campground is part of the Logan River Trail. Runners, bikers and dogs will be going down the main road of the campground to continue on the River Trail. There is also a small parking lot where I park to start many of my trail runs. I've never really seen this place full of campers but people often leave unhitched trailers and tents unoccupied in sites. 14 day limit. There are about 6 free camp spots, 2 of which are on the river side, 3 of which could fit an RV, but everyone can access the river regardless of the site. You can't see the highway, but you might hear some loud trucks going by. There are other nicer places to camp for free, but this one is close to town and I think I got 1 bar of 3G Sprint service. Network of trails so plenty of hiking routes from your site.
From HWY 91 heading up Logan Canyon, turn just before mile marker 465. Easy for passenger cars.
